My 1016 Explorer's very close production
Hi, I wanted too share a pair of ref 1016's which I've acquired in the past few months. I was
looking over both of the watches & noticed that the first 4 digits of the Serial #'s are the same.... Both begin with 4086; 40866xx & 40868xx. Very coincidental & I was not seeking 1016's from this particular era. One came from a well known dealer & the other from the family of the original owner. I feel very lucky like I hit the watch Lotto :) The dial & hands on both watches have almost identical patina. They both also have the original domed crystals, which I've not had on a 1016 before. It's a very nice look. I don't believe Either one had ever been serviced before so I sent them to my top watchmaker for a movement overhaul. I will post more pics when I get the other watch back from service. Thanks Justin |
