Sea-Hunt Rolex - What Submariner is this?

This is a long-shot post, but after reading several threads about the SM 300 Spectre watch and whether or not Rolex would ever consider remaking a vintage style Submariner, it got me thinking about the Submariner Lloyd Bridges wore on Sea-Hunt and how I wish I could acquire a reissue.

Could anyone tell me for reference what model he wore?

Sea Hunt was on from 1958 to 1961 and Lloyd Bridges wore a Submariner. Probably/possibly a 5508 because it looks like it does not have crown guards.

Later, Lloyd Bridges usually wore a "signature" Yellow Gold Sub Date.

I think you are correct - was looking at some photos but did not see CGs

Looks like the older one might be a big crown 6538 or 5510 rather than a 5508.

Can someone explain the reason for the obsession with old movie stars and Rolex? This stuff always struck me as strange, it's starting to get creepy now.

The Paul Newman Daytona, okay, I can understand. The Steve McQueen Explorer, you're losing me. The Lloyd Bridges Sea-Hunt Submariner Reissue? LOL.

A Rolex is what looks great on your wrist, not someone else's.

We're losing you because that watch never existed.

Maybe seeing it on someones wrist for the first time was the way you first saw the watch and liked it. What's strange about that. No stranger than seeing it in a catalogue or window surely.

Been giving it some thought and I guess I'm getting weary of seeing photos of dead, semi-naked actors.

Thanks for your input. Seeing as how I like the show, appreciate the watch, and was curious as to which watch it was, I'll kindly disregard. Run along now.

I think people and the products they endorse become Intertwined. Many people really respected Newman so I think this keeps interest in his brands strong. I love many McQueen movies like bullet and the great escape. As a person I am not a big fan of McQueen.

Regardless, I fail to see how interest in these guys and their watches can be creepy. You really can't relate to someone who likes an actor and wants to own something that is closely associated with their persona? I really like vanilla ice hence I drive a 1990 5.0 mustang. Nothing creepy there

I bought my first Omega Seamaster after watching Goldeneye. Creepy? I don't think so.

OP, thanks for the post!

Just went to YouTube and watched an episode of "Sea Hunt." Couldn't tell much about the watch. One of my all time favorite programs as a kid!

Then there was "Rescue 8", "Adam 12" and "Emergency!." These were programs that, interestingly, had some influence on who I am today. I actually learned something from "Adam 12" that kept me from getting stabbed late one night as a cop.

Thanks for the memories!

You're welcome. I believe all episodes are available on Youtube.

I watched this show as a kid and enjoyed, fortunately Bridges in a Speedo did not have the same negative affect on me as a kid as it does now

However, I much preferred him as Commander Kaine (though he probably had a digital Casio)
