question about restoration

i just bought a 1975 gmt master rootbeer with nipple dial holds perfect time
but the bracelet in stretched and bezel is faded which i like . what would hold it value more refinishing it or leaving it alone .i am planning fixing the band and use an aftermarket band.
thoughts

Send the Bracelet to Michael Young and call it a Day.

Michael Young is the Michelangelo of vintage Rolex bracelet restoration.

Once I get that redone you guys think it's OK to use an aftermarket jubilee band and save the restored one.

Why "restore" it if you're not going to use it? This restoration, by the way, can cause obvious visual flaws. If it's a wearer, that's fine. But if you're wanting to put the bracelet away for some reason, it's now a modified (not restored) bracelet.

I'd suggest you put the old one away, and then buy a real bracelet with some more life left.

Leaving everything "as is" would be the safer bet if resale value retention is your primary objective. Originality trumps restoration in most cases.
For daily wear, you can also put it on a nice alligator strap or go get a used jubilee as suggested earlier.

I'm not sure I understand. What visual flaws are you likely to get by sending the bracelet to Michael Young to remove the stretch between links (ie. "restore" it)?

Don't wear an aftermarket. That beats the whole point.

I too would like to see these "obvious visual flaws" from a MY restoration. I've seen marks from an attempt made by a novice, but every restoration I've ever seen done by Michael........the work has been undetectable.

He grabs the outer links, pinches them, and rips the bracelet apart. I've seen plenty of witness marks from the tools used - on this forum even. It's a great service, but it's cheap and not risk less for a bracelet you want to preserve.

Search for the president bracelet that he "fixed" so well the holes were no longer aligned and the bracelet couldn't articulate. It was posted on the modern side of the forum.
