That is a long time ride Dan.
Don't you get a hankering for the latest and greatest hi-mod carbon fibre release bikes from the big companies like Cannondale or Specialised? Also electric gears is a big thing these days, personally it doesn't do anything for me, I'm quite happy with cables, save for oil line disc brakes which I love for the feel and confidence they provide in all weather conditions. I've got Shimano Ultegra on my Cannondale Synapse and it is a very nice groupset. I note the very positive rise stem, which I can well appreciate for the comfort factor, and judging by the seatpost you must be 6' 6" tall......am I right??? The Chris King headset is quality kit, and it looks like a Fizik saddle. But road bikes are like fine watches, when you get a taste for them, one is never enough, I'd invite you to book in for a test ride on a Cannondale super-six hi-mod (disc) or Synapse (disc) and see what you think. A new bike can do wonders to re-invigorate your riding appreciation.

Great observations, my friend! I did contemplate a new bike but this one has served me well, the frame is still in great shape, it was handmade in the USA [not that other countries couldn't do very high quality], and even though expensive, it was cheaper in the long run. Plus, you don't see too many Ti/ carbon combos on the road. The frame is a 59 and probably should have gone w/ a 61. I'm 6' 4" [you were close] and had the positive rise stem added a few years ago since, at 57, I'm not as flexible as I once was. Although I've been a Fizik Arione fan for many years I decided to try out the Brooks Cambium C13, which is made at the Fizik factory in Italy. The carbon rails do a good job of smoothing the bumps, the saddle design fits my bum, but still getting used to the canvas surface. Got to build those calluses. Ultegra is always a gook value, the electric shifting is too rich for my blood. Yes, these 2 wheeled wonders are as addicting as watches. I had a steel [is real] LeMond that I gave to my son, which he loves. Also a Specialized hybrid I occasionally use on a trainer. Here she is all decked out for the road. dP

Do car drivers get angry with cyclists in the USA? Over here drivers tailgate cyclists and overtake very close but roads here are narrower and busier so cars often have to wait behind. This puts me off cycling on the road but I can imagine it being less of a problem over there.
