Broken screwdriver tip

Oh well it only took 3 weeks but I've managed to snap the tiny tip off the end of the screwdriver
I'm assuming you can buy a new tip from Panerai as it can be removed or do you have other recommendations? What size is the tip? I've read it's 1.6mm.

1.6 for luminors and 1940s and 1.4 for for wire rads.
I would just get a new Bergeon: http://www.ofrei.com/page1361.html

I kept all originals in the box unused. I use 1.6 for Radiomir too. I find 1.4 MM to be somewhat loose. What I have are these Bergeon.

Model 7965 is better than 6899-160

Make sure you get hollow ground screwdrivers and not chisel point. I've mangled some screwheads with a chisel point Bergeon

Google hollow ground screwdriver for more info.

On the contrary, I prefer chisel head instead of those hollow ground types. Most important is get 1.6 MM size. You have probably used the wrong size hence you ground off the nut head, no?

Nope the one I got is 1.6mm. I purchased this exact one:
https://www.amazon.com/Bergeon-55-68.../dp/B00EVIIBLC

It mangled a couple screws on my GMTc bracelet. Then I got a Panerai luminor which came with a hollow ground 1.6mm screwdriver and that's been a perfect fit when adjusting my oyster bracelets.

I'm curious, why do you prefer the chisel point screwdrivers?

@sanosan34

Perhaps it is habits. I have bought a thick screwdriver for my oyster bracelet. Thicker = more torque = more control.

So far, IMO - Bergeon 7965-160 is the best for Panerai luminor and Radiomir too.

I've ordered a spare screwdriver and strap tools from OP Singapore. I prefer to use original stuff and have ordered the spares as a precaution in case anything breaks or goes missing.

I took out the magnifying loupe and took some photos to illustrate the difference between the Panerai and Bergeon screwdrivers. Hope this helps!

Would you mind sharing how much a spare screwdriver costs from OP?

Make yourself a favor and use only the OEM Panerai 1,6 mm screwdriver for the screws in your oyster bracelets.

Thanks for the replies. I think a phone call to Selfridges this morning. I'd prefer the real deal. As the tip screws out, can you purchase just the end?

I don't know yet as I'm still awaiting it's arrival. If I'm honest though, I'd be surprised if they charge me because of the relationship I have with them.

Interesting discussion. Can someone provide a source for the hollow ground drivers?

Here's a hollow ground replacement tip but I couldn't find the complete screwdriver on ofrei.
