Exactly. Any metal bracelet with a flip lock style Sub clasp. The watch can't be removed unless slipped over the large part of your hand. Just don't let anyone invade your personal space.

I've learnt to be wary. Paris, Venice, HK and BKK have many low skilled pickpockets. But also a small number of expert pickpockets with skills similar to those shown by the magician in this video.

The level of expertise of some of those pickpockets is superhuman. It is not just their slight of hand skills, but how they use the environment and how they read and distract the attention of their mark.

Have you ever been distracted by a loud argument in a taxi queue? Tried to get your order in at a market stall while people are jumping the queue around you? Been bustled by the crowd at some busy tourist attraction? Or zoned out at a night club with a few drinks under your belt?

Statistically you are unlikely to encounter a seriously skilled pickpocket. But they are out there. And maintaining situational awareness is your best defence.
