Cartier Daytona

So I am not new to vintage since, I didn't even start with vintage watches. But in this case a friend of mine with less knowledge about vintage came to me for advice, here I present you the piece of her choice to start in the vintage world.

The seller of this fine piece is a Japanese man and communicating isn't easy, the price he set for this watch is $200,000. What do I need to ask him to make sure that I am not getting ripped off, keep in mind I did almost no research while writing this post. Wanted a list of questions to ask before asking him like matching dial, case serial number etc...

if this watch was in MINT condition, which its not, price would be reasonable if not a bit on the low side. However watch is not mint. It is missing some lume plots on the right side of the dial. It is hard to give more critique buy just looking at one image on a computer. But in general this is one HECK of a good watch assuming like you said all numbers and parts match...

model number should be 6263 if im not mistaken and it should say that on case between the lugs and the serial number must match as well..

That's a lot of money to be spending when you don't know what you're buying, and need to ask the internet for assistance.

They have kind of like a private museum in their home so they look for extremely rare things and they want this to be the first Rolex

Maybe they should retain an agent who actually knows something?

I have never seen this reference before. I looked around the internet and could not find one picture of a similar example. Found some similar (gold + Cartier) but were they were all PN dials. All also had Daytona versus Cosmograph on the dial.

I would do much studying of this model before buying this.

Yeah this is a type of piece you see at a Christies auction Except in better condition

For Watches retailed by high end Stores like Cartier and Tiffany the final word is the Paperwork from when the Watch was originally purchased. With so many fake Dials floating around these Papers make or break the piece.
