Best pliers for bezel inserts
I have seen my watchmaker install inserts with a set of pliers that appear to have nylon on the threads. Does anyone know where I can buy something similar or know of a better tool to snap difficult inserts in place?

I just use two thumbs. Even the most difficult inserts go in with the right technique.
I avoid tools as they can scratch or bend. Nylon should be safe but at least with my thumbs I have direct and tactile feel of what's going on. That doesn't answer your question, however. |

I use my thumbs first, and when that fails me, I use my nylon tipped or my plastic tipped pliers.
Hobby Lobby sells nylon tipped pliers and I've never had them mar the finish of an insert.

I use my thumbs, and if they won't snap in then I use the Rolex die set to press it in.

One thing you don't want to do is warp the metal bezel even by a hair. It's a pain to get the insert to snap in. I know from experience.

[QUOTE=JustinK;10063589]I agree thumbs are best to try first but some just won’t snap in.
Thanks, I will head to the Hobby Lobby this weekend. [/QUOTE Some of these can certainly be quite difficult to seat just using finger pressure, so nylon jawed pliers can certainly help, though definitely still need to take care not to apply too much pressure. |
