Hand engraved movement under $10k, Glashutte Original and who else?

I notice a number of Glashütte Original movements are finished with hand engraving on the movement (balance cock). I was not aware this level of detailed finishing was available on watches below $10k. I thought this was reserved for hand worked pieces from the likes of the Trinity, and ALS on pieces north of $100k. Do any other brands offer this sort of detailed finishing on movements at this price point?

The degree of finishing on GO is not the same as what you'd find on ALS.

Honestly the hand engraved balance cock is sort of meh to me and I had a Lange. I do think GO puts out a great watch for the money. Not a fan of their logo rotors which kind of ruins the back side for me.

Couldn't agree more regarding the rotor. It's somewhat tacky.

I believe ALS hand engraves the balance cocks on all their movements; not just for watches north of 100k.

They do, and you can send a piece back and have a personalised engraving done.

I love GO, I think they put out a great product and punch well above their weight. That being said, I believe that the only hand finishing is the balance cock, and no, it's not near the same level you'd see on an ALS. But.... IMHO, GO get's you 80% of the way there at 10% of the price.

Should we start a hand engraved movement thread?

Should we start a hand engraved movement thread? I saw this reverso and have gone down the rabbit hole looking for others that have similar "hands on" finishing.

True but GO makes great looking movements and superb watches at bargain prices. I've been wanting a Panomatic Lunar for years but I just end up buying Langes instead.

That's from the platinum Sun Moon, which is a gorgeous watch. Alas, I only have the white gold version which has a machine finished movement and isn't skeletonized but it's still a lovely movement and a lovely watch.

depends on what watches you’re talking about of course but I don’t think it’s accurate to say 10% of the price. there are new or substantially new ALSs can be had for ~15k on the grey market...

I think for Dornbluth even the name and serial # on the movement is hand engraved. Some start at $4,000.

I would prefer the Saxonia for 16k. 6k more for better finishing, better brand and better quality. That said GO does make fine watches.

Torsti Laine. All types of wonderful and custom (dial and movement) in that price range.
