Omega Speedmaster Professional 50th Anniversary LE
Yesterday evening I received a call from my AD informing me of the arrival of the Omega Speedmaster 50th Anniversary LE. I paid him a visit, took a look at the watch, out came my wallet, and now I am a proud owner of this admirable timepiece from Omega with a distinguished history.
This is the all steel version with the traditional 1861 movement. I chose this because the 1861 movement is descended from the original Speedy movement which actually went into outer space. The other pricier versions had the new 3201 co-axial manual wind movement which is totally unrelated to the original Speedy Pro. Also I did not like the sapphire sandwich case of the other versions. I'll be posting more pics later at the watch gallery section. |

That's a real beauty, Danny. Congrats and well done. We look forward to some more pics, including close ups of the caseback and bracelet (including clasp).
Thanks - JJ

Very nice Danny! The crown on the speedmasters, are these screw down or just push in crowns?

I really like this watch.
I currently own a Omega Seamaster 120m and will upgrade on my "50th" birthday to either this watch (imagine 50th birthday and 50th anniversary of Omega Speedmaster ie 1957) or Rolex SS GMT II. Decisions decisions |

Congratulations, very nice. Good choice on the 1861 movement. Do they separate or identify which ones have the older movement? I imagine this might be accomplished by printing "co-axial" on the ones which have it. Anyway, thanks for the photos and congratulations again.

Here is a Pic of the 50th Anniversary Speedmaster SS Co-Axial Version . Only 1957 of these have been produced. I'm looking for photos of the back.

The black enamel dial on the SS Co-Axial version is really stunning, not to mention the really cool wooden case and tool set which comes with it. |

I agree.
I would be seriously tempted if I saw one for sale at a reasonable price.

I'm tempted even at an unreasonable price. Where does one find a watch like that? What do I google to find it?

That's a beauty, Danny. I did not even know that Omega was putting out an anniversary model for the Speedy. Really a great looking watch with a great heritage.

Nice speedy there! I got one as well, but the regular model, manual hexalite. True classic. Don`t wear it much `cause the hexalite crystal. Got a few scratch already. I was wearing it during the weekend. Manually winded 40 turns at saturday morning. It was keeping great time `till yesterday. Suddenly it ost like 30 mins. Is it normal for a manual watch to slow down when the power reserve is low? Also once I let the chrono running with the watch fully winded and it stopped completely after 2 hours. Is it normal?
