Help me choose my next patek

Hi guys,

So i’ve Been really wrestling with regards to deciding my next patek. I created a thread recently and there was overwhelming response from others to go for the 5164a. Now I know I should choose what songs to me but I also do value your input, especially considering that I tend to sell my watches in less than a year as I get bored easily.

I currently do not own any RG watch, the only patek I own is 5980 blue dial.

Below are the choices:

1. 5164a
2. 5960r black dial (preowned someone offered me below 56k)
3. 5205r black dial

Thanks a bunch

Hearing that you sell your watches in less than a year, I would go 5164
5960R is beautiful, but you would have to buy it at 50k otherwise it’s not worth it specially with your unloading habits. If you intend to keep it long term then you can be more forgiving.

Why not 5164R then? Seems ideal.

Thanks for the input guys. Is 5960r at 50k considered a bargain?

I wear a 5960 daily and don’t find it too thick. But since Patek makes it in stainless steel, I wouldn’t buy one on PM.

Based on your post, you will become bored with an Aquanaut. So get the 5205.

I don’t know if 50k is a bargain or not , but at least you won’t lose much. I can see grey dealers giving you 47k for it if you want to unload.

Thanks for the input.

I’ve narrowed it down to 5164a vs 5164r
Price difference here in SEA between the 2 is about USD 15k.

I don’t have a Rose gold watch at the moment, but not too sure if I need it. I had the 5712r but sold it off recently as well.

If you are me will you get the 5164r and be done? Get 5164a and maybe get a RG calatrava like 5227r in the near future.

Currently I have a 5980a, Daytona Panda, AP 15450, AP Diver, AP 44 fc, breguet 7727, Rolex explorer II.

The looks of 5164R is hotter (IMHO) than 5164a that’s why I got it before; it’s just cooler. But is different when you wear it, Rose gold bezel is a bear to take care , I really care about keeping them clean; so if I had to choose I would have to pick 5164A, I would live much happier. But if you characterize yourself as a person that either don’t care about scratches or you take awesome care of your watches , then you can pick either one , can’t go wrong

I feel you. I really had to be very careful when I had my 5712r. Multiple hairline scratches after several months of careful use. Isn’t it the same for stainless though? But I guess when you polish, you’re shaving off SS vs Gold lol

I actually prefer the 5164A to the R and I am a predominantly PM guy. Just think the anthracite dial matches the SS better than the dark brown does the RG. as I'd like the brown dial to be lighter and sunburst better such as on the 5711R. However as you have only SS/WG I can understand the RG allure.

Got any pics of the Breguet? Dial looks extraordinary.

Here’s my 7727

I think pictures don’t do justice hehe. The 1/10 second movement is amazing at the subdial.

I would love for the subdial to be seconds movement and the main dial to be 1/10 second. But oh well.

WOW! Now thats a watch. OP the aquanaut is so boring. Why would you get it. Either get the 5205r with black dial (extremely sexy) to get this breguet
