Would be inclined to 5304r. If you want a classic looking MR perpetual get the "real thing" in a 3974 which to me is one of the most beautiful ever made. Luck you!

Two watches that in theory are grails / dream watches. And although I’m not too familiar with these specific pieces, for that kind of money, they better be perfect.
The 5374p is almost perfect, IMHO. I will nitpick because it’s too much money not to. ****** Why does a watch of this caliber have the squashed numerals in the date wheel (the 5 and 27 & 29)? 🧐 Otherwise, it’s absolutely beautiful. As for the 5304r, it’s a little too ornate for me and tough to read the PC complication. If I were offered one of the two, the 5374p.

Ah! Thank you - another great thread for a Friday.
Sound: From experience I can share that the chime sound of the gold is significantly better to me that the platinum case. Usefulness / Dial: 5304r is challenging to read under the best conditions, but it the most stunning to see as the openwork - and by far is most loved by people in my life that are not watch people. 5374p: Enamel dial with breguet is so beautiful and actually legible as a watch, especially with the lume hands. Both have water resistance of zero. Retention: I guess the 5374p wins here as I know the skeletons are generally not for everyone and I got my 5304r double sealed at a discount from retail price (not through retail channel). Both are works of art, but to me the 5304r is really art on the wrist. To answer this better I would love to know what else you have in your collection. Disclosure: I get my enamel dial/breguet "fix" in another piece. |

I agree with Steve the smushed numbers on the date wheel should not be like that at this price point. Same with the 5204. Blah!

Neither for me. If it has to be current model I would hold off for a 5207 for admittedly a bit more money. If older models are acceptable I actually think the 5213 is the best looking super Patek but just wish the size was bigger.

I prefer the P altho as said the dial is a little claustrophobic. I don't like the Patek text at the bottom of a dial and esp not when it is so spaced out as if for a child. However the chime's resonance would be of paramount importance here.
