Buying from Chrono24

Hello

Has anyone had any problems after registering and / or buying from Chrono24?

Thanks

Just be sure to understand that you aren't "buying from Chrono24". You are buying from an individual or a dealer who advertises on Chrono24. It's like seeing an ad for a used car on the bulletin board at the grocery store. You aren't buying a car from Kroger.

Thanks for this.

I suppose these confirm the obvious, some have problems, some don't, same as most companies.

Thanks again.

Thanks for this.

I think the two replies have convinced me to stick to buying things I can see before buying and / or stick to sellers I am confident I can rely on.

Many thanks to both of you.

I found a store yesterday which looked good from the outside, but when I looked at a few more reviews on forums and google it painted a different picture. 4.5/5 star dealer on Chrono24. Aftermarket parts in several movements, aftermarket deployant, condition was worse than described and this wasn't just 1 review/watch.

And when I read the google reviews a couple of positive reviews used the exact same phrase (and spelling mistake) so it was obvious what they were doing. You're better off buying local and seeing the watch yourself.

Yeh, it’s a bit frustrating when you see a rare watch you are interested in for sale in a different country and you can’t go to see it!

Thanks for your reply

Buy the seller. I got my DJ41 from Chrono24 with no issues. He did have a B&M and plenty of references and sells on the forum. Payment was held until the watch was delivered and as advertised. So, do your research on the seller..

I've purchased from Chrono on two separate occasions.

On the first, I inquired about the watch on Chrono and then took the transaction off Chrono since they were easier to negotiate with absent of the fees. It was a reputable watch seller so no issues there.

Second, same thing. But, I purchased through Chrono to have the protection. Watch wasn't exactly as described. It came with a very small chip on the crystal and a bezel that wasn't working. Unfortunately, the seller tried to lie to me and pass off the bezel as operable and then suggested I broke the bezel. We finally agreed on reimbursing me for the easy fix at a service center. Had I read the reviews on the seller/dealer, I would have stayed away. Several others described the same situation - watches that didn't come as described with minor flaws that they were trying to pass off as nothing.

YMMV

Another option is to use Chrono24 for the transaction but to meet in person to close the deal. Chrono24 will work with both parties to release the funds from escrow accordingly.

Only buy from someone whom uses the Escrow service and you will be fine.

7.5% buyer tax PLUS sales tax is a deal breaker for me. I like the site but buyers should never be charged fees.

I bought a watch through them a few months ago. I wasn't charged any buyers tax or fee. I'm in the US and the seller is in the US as well. I did have to pay sales tax though.

Wow that's good to hear. Wonder if they got rid of it? People were pissed when they added it. Hoped they came to their senses.

Same here. Got my DJ41 in 2019 and paid MSRP and no fees or taxes..

I think it was short lived and no longer the case. Now they charge a private seller .065 on their sale, which considering the exposure (I have sold there) is reasonable. I don't know if it's different for established dealers.

Good news. I know when they added it people went ballistic. It was a stupid move from the start.

Question, I know they charge sales tax when purchasing from professional dealers. Do they also apply sales tax when buying from an individual seller?
