5960 Black - Platinum or Steel
Interested to find out what is everyone's opinion on the preferred model for a black dial 5960. A steel 5960/1A-010 or a platinum 5960P-016? Both are very limited (to my knowledge both were produced for less than a year?). I also think the secondary market price for both is about the same.

Platinum is more precious than steel

Depends. If you want to wear it daily, steel is better because it’s lighter on the wrist. Platinum is more of an occasion piece.

I believe the black dial of the platinum is different from the SS. I have only seen the platinum black dial and have not seen the SS version.
Typically if the price is the same, the platinum would be the better bargain. Today's SS watch craze may have "inflated" the price of the SS version. I say try both on your wrist and see which one you like better. |

Try both but I will go with Platinum.

Platinum if you have the moolah.
It's fine to wear everyday, depending on what work/leisure you do. I wear gold watch everyday. |

Equally...
You're going to need some moolah for a 5960 SS black dial too, dare I say more than for the platinum version!

Black dial, steel. It's more rare, more practical and nice to have on a bracelet. There are a lot of PM versions of this reference. Another possibility is the 5905 which is nice because it has a cleaner dial due to the simpler chronograph function although it is slightly larger.

Between the black dials, definitely the Steel over Platinum.
For price/value, I tend to like the latest 5960G (blue dial with strap). |
