Unusual Rolex Case Back with raised Rolex Logo
I have a 1960's Rolex Precision with a 9ct gold case. The watch an extremely rare Rolex crown caseback with a raised crown symbol which is used to access the manual wind movement.
Has anyone else seen this type of case back with the Rolex crown on the caseback? Thank you in anticipation. |

Clicking on zip files is not always the smartest thing to do

Millions of compressed files are transferred around the world everyday, including .zip files, so I don't understand why there are so many people on this forum with a fear of opening them.
All you need are some basic precautions, such as decent anti-virus and anti-malware software and they are as safe as any e-mail attachment. It is also not clear why members post .zip files but as it not against forum rules we should be able to handle the rare occasions when they are posted. Here is the OP's image, and it looks to me to be a case back used on non-Oyster cases, possibly in the 1980s on the Cellini range or on UK made Dennison or other contract manufactured cases. Sorry if this comes across as a bit preachy but I don't think it is very helpful to new members to tell them we are not going to open their files because we don't like the format. |

I'm pretty sure now that this was a design feature used on Britton and Sons cases (Benjamin Henry Britton and Sons of Birmingham) in the late 1950s and it is unusual to see this, but not particularly rare in the UK as there were thousands of these cases made for Rolex every year.
If this is true there should be a maker's mark at the top inside the case back with the letters B&S inside two intersecting circles, then the UK hallmarks, then MADE FOR ROLEX and finally the serial/case number. B&S cases are very high quality, probably the best UK contract made cases of the period, and they are generally better made than the similar Dennison or Shackman 9ct. gold cases. |

Be good to see a pic of the dial. Zip file or not.
