Tudor GMT date issue out of warranty

My June 2018 Tudor GMT had just started to jump two days at a time.

As I'm out of warranty how will Rolex UK treat this issue? Will they honour the fact it's a know issue and fix it no charge or am I "SOL" as our American cousins would say.

Your thoughts and experiences appreciated.

I know that they have a 5 year warranty now, did they extend this after you bought it?

If you bought after July 2018 they added 18 months to the warranty to give you 3.5 years.
I believe mine was one of the first handful in the UK in June 2018.

So you missed it by a month.
Surely they will understand this and fix it for free...
Drop by St. James RSC and ask.

From my experience with Rolex, I think they will fix it however, it's a Tudor and so I'm not sure. Perhaps you could send it in and then report back?

I and nearly 100% sure they will replace the movement free of charge. Being that close to warranty on a known issue with this watch I can't imagine them not standing behind their product.

Will do, current abroad and thought I'd lost a day somewhere

My ETA black bay went back to Rolex St James for the rotor spinning whilst hand winding three times before they fixed it, so they know me

Good luck. Should be ok. I've asked I. A couple of AD's about the date problem and they both said Tudor had sorted it!
I'm not so Sure?
Shame because I really want to buy it but would need a discount now!

It is very likely that they will take care of this for you at no charge.

This issue has been a HUGE embarrassment for Tudor.

I badly wanted that Tudor, but didn't buy one after reading of the date wheel issues.
Ended up buying another brand GMT.

Dodged a bullet there, thanks to TRF informative posts.

No bullets to be dodged. Tudor will fix it free of charge and you can continue to enjoy it. Small blip in the road. I recently bought mine from an AD here in Sydney and purchased without doubts or concerns.

I highly doubt they’d decline to cover it but on the off chance they do, go back to your AD and request that they cover the cost of service or replace the watch under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

I suspect you'll get looked after. Looking forward to a report back on how this plays out. Good luck.

I don't know why they wouldn't help you, the date wheel issue is a manufacturer defect.

Dropped the Tudor GMT off at the RSC St James' London today. As soon as I mention the date issue they asked if it was jumping or sticking, so were well aware of the issue. It should be back in 10 days. No mention of warranty expiry.

Do we know if the fix involves modified movement parts? Or they just replace with same ones that fail after some time ? And if new parts when we’re gmt shipped with the fix?

Reason: I have a Tudor GMT. Don’t use it that often and NEVER set the date because aim lazy. I have some concerns about it breaking in a few yearsZ

Most of what we know is anecdotal. For example, it seems like there are less reports of date issues in the last few months, which could perhaps suggest there's been an effective update.

We also know, at least from the OP's post above , that Tudor will look after people if they run into the problem.

If you hardly use your watch and never set the date, I suppose it won't matter anyway.

By way of an update I collected my GMT from RSC two weeks ago. Since then the date has changed correctly and its running +8 seconds after two weeks. The repair, even though out of warranty was with no charge, so well done to Tudor/Rolex for taking responsibility.

I don’t understand why some have had multiple issues with this, other than there are a combination of problems with these movements. I got the first GMT my dealer received, and the date started sticking the first week. I sent it to RSC and three weeks later I got it back and it has been perfect since. According to the service ticket they just serviced the movement, didn’t replace it.

Problem is, Tudor can't fix it. They have no fix. You send it in for repair, and they send it back and it breaks again,,,and again,,,and again. The warranty is worthless. Been there, done that.

Glad to hear they got it sorted, Gabriel! Wearing mine [flawless since purchased new in early 2019] while I type and it's certainly the watch that brings the most satisfaction for me.
