Sport/Dress Watch Combo for around 10k

New member of the forum. New to collecting and looking to acquire a sports watch and a dress watch for ~10k. What combo would you buy within that budget?

Assume that you are looking for something that you can actually buy

Think below would be a fantastic two-watch collection. Could be close to the 10k, subject to a little negotiation with your AD.

Omega Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch (Hesalite) USD 6,300
Reverso Classic Monoface: USD 5750

hah yes that is correct. This is actually what I had in mind but wanted to see what people said. Think this combo is possible to do for <10k with discounts?

Both pre owned Rolex 114270 and Grand Seiko SBGW231 might be a little over $10k, but not by much and it’ll serve you well for a long long time. Speedmaster is always a good choice too.

Dress(ish):
Pre owned GO Sixties Panorama Date -$5k
Seiko Presage Cocktail -$500 to $1K

Sport Watch-
Speedmaster pre-owned $3.5K to $5K
Seamaster 300 $3.5 -$4k
Speedmaster Racing Master chronometer Pre owned $5.5K
Breguet XXI pre owned $5k
IWC 3719 aquatimer pre owned $3.5-4K
Any of the IWC pilot chronographs 3717, 3777, 3879 Pre owned #k- $5.5K
Blancpain Fifty Fathoms preowned $8.5-$9K
Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe preowned $7-$8K
the last 2 are spendier, but I'd spend only about $1k on a dress watch, like the Presage, as I seldom have occasion to wear one

Both preowned and pre Richemont from the late 1990s...

IWC Mark XV
JLC Master Ultra Thin

If you get the JLC in PM it'll be slightly over budget, if in SS it should work. If you don't like the 34mm size you can get any of the later and much larger iterations. You could also get an IWC Mark XVIII instead of the XV if you have to buy new.

Sport/Dress Watch Combo for around 10k

I’d go something Grand Seiko for dress and an El Primero for sport.

Or, a Cartier Santos or Tank for dress and an Aqua Terra or Seamaster 300 for sport.

Or, something Nomos for dress and a GO SeaQ for sport.

Lots of options…just depends on your style, size of watch your limited to, etc.

I would rather get only one watch for 10K budget.

It can be DateJust or Sub. Date.

Sport - Omega SM300 or Speedmaster
Dress - Pick your reasonable choice of Grand Seiko

You'll have some cash remaining to take out your significant other out for dinner to sport your new watches.

Find someone who sells both, try them on, and have a great conversations about watches. Tell the person that you are a buyer today, but were only looking to spend around 10.000, and if he/she could help you with a deal - Be nice and reasonable about it

You will have two watches if the answer is yes, otherwise you move on and try another place You have nothing to lose

For a new two watch dress and sport combo I'd personally opt for a Grand Seiko SBGW231 mechanical and an Omega Speeedmaster 1862 "sapphire sandwich" on a bracelet. You could also go for the hesalite version or the new Co-Axial Speedmaster with either sapphire or hesalite. If you need something waterproof, I'd go for a Seamster 300M or 300 in whatever color you want. You also could go with a Tudor Black Bay, either the 58 or the standard model if you have larger wrists. A steel JLC Reverso would also be a contender.

With this budget, I personally wouldn't spend $10,000k+ for a Rolex that isn't any better, as a whole, than a comparable Omega. Rolex does some things better than Omega but Omega does some things better than Rolex. You might even have a little left over for a Hamilton Khaki Mechanical and a G-Shock.

Cartier Santos - easily goes from sport to dress with the easiest strap change in the business. $7,400 list for the large

YM 40 Rhodium dial is another option, but over the budget at $12K if you can get at MSRP

You could get 1 watch that does both... either an Explorer (new 36mm if you have a small wrist, old 39mm if you have big wrist), OP (especially prior 39mm models, rhodium/white/black all perfect), or a steel DJ41 if you need date (virtually every dial is outstanding... rhodium/black/white/silver, all superb).

If you want a 2-piece combo, I think many great suggestions have been offered...

Dress, one of...
JLC reverso / GS SBGW231 / Nomos Orion 38 / Cartier Tank or Santos

Sport, one of...
Omega Speedy / Omega SMP diver / Tudor BB58 / Tudor GMT

For a fresh take, what about a Tudor GMT for Sport and Tudor Chrono for Dress?
