Trade 2 Rolex for an AP?
I have a 2015 JC Deepsea and 2018 Hulk, both bought from AD with box and papers. Will trade both towards an AP ROO pink gold on strap brand new box and papers + 16k cash . He’s buying my hulk for 21k and deepsea for 15k. I will be left with one rolex , a white ceramic Daytona . Should I pull the trigger?
Your input would be greatly appreciated. |

I would not make that trade. Wait until the market cools down in a couple years. The AP is not going to change your life.

If you want it do it. The value of what you’re getting is relatively fair in that I doubt any of the greys would give you any more for your ‘trade ins’.

If you like the AP, then go for it but it's a one way street. You're not getting that same deal in reverse so you better not want those Rolex anymore unless you're willing to potentially pay more in the future.

I’d do it, but preferably a slightly better outcome is to get the new ROO from an AP botique. Though you’d probably top up even more cash in this scenario.
What is the age of the AP in this trade? New? |

Only you that know, if you love AP ROO more than DSSD JC & the Hulk, it's worth it.
For me I love both brands but I would keep DSSD JC & the Hulk in my collection for long long time, they are two of the best Rolex. AP is the best in Rose Gold bracelet, the most gorgeous.

IMO that’s not a good trade. The ROO is the least valuable of the RO divers. Your hulk is a long term keeper. Have you seen the price of them on the secondary market? A year or two from now he could be paying you cash.

I would not; I think AP is a major bubble waiting to pop.

I have the JC and the Hulk as well as a few ROO's(not the rose gold). Though the rose gold is stunning, I don't think I would be willing to lose out on those two Rolex's to make the change. Unless you are talking about the new 43mm ROO, I might have to make that move.

Not in AP's dreams I would do that.

As always, most replies here are purely concerned with “monetary value”. That’s a peculiarity of Rolex forums only: step outside of the Rolex brand and no-one mentions future value at all.
For me it ALWAYS comes down to what I piece I prefer aesthetically, and to own and wear. Watches are a hobby for me - nothing more, nothing less - and once the money is spent I consider it a sunk cost. I fail to see the attraction of keeping something I don’t love just because it’s “hard to get” or may “go up in value”. So with that in mind I’d say buy, wear and enjoy the piece(s) you prefer most. |

No, not for an AP on a strap. MAYBE if it was on a bracelet, even then I feel like you're giving up a lot. But if you have to have it, I would do less cash. Not a fan of giving of the Hulk either. But to each their own.

APROO used to trade below retail. Now because of the rising tide of all of the other luxury watches APROO are way up. Since this was one of the last to rise, may be one of the first to fall. I can tell you this though. AP is also revoking AD’s unless they build a special AP section and they are moving toward mostly boutiques. It’s not so easy to get a RO right now. In my opinion, a ROO is attainable from the boutique with a little patience. I have one AP it is a APROO. Mine was purchased from an AD and registered in my name with AP, so hopefully that will help me in the future if I wanted another watch.
Anyway I think the gold case APROO watches are lovely. |
