Rolex embezelment?

Just how bad is the fragility of these ceramics?
How many of you have damaged your bezels, what's the percentage?
Have Rolex released ANY statement regarding this issue?

Were the same questions raised over the brittleness and durability of the sapphire crystals over the old acrylic ones? Similar criteria apply don't they.

I for one, would be WELL cheesed off if had I spent big bucks on an allegedly
rough, tough, robust, hard wearing 'tool' of a watch only to find that one
of the most vunerable parts of it was not 'up to scratch! AND hugelyexpensive to replace too.

Personally I've been waiting for the release of a new GMT, but I think
I'll wait untill all the queries are answered satisfactorily. No matter HOW pretty a ceramic Coke GMT appears I'll want to be sure that any new bezel will last the 35 years my old one did.

As the old saying says Mr Rolex "If it ain't broke dont fix it."

Perhaps Rolex could try and focus more on the engineered qualities
of their designs for it is these well established 'tools' that have been the foundation of the company's reputation, and, less perhaps, on the rap-drug-bling monstrosities masquerading as expressions of good taste.(rant over)

All the best,
V.

ps. Can anybody tell me in the simplest terms possible how to post
photo's onto the forum. It's got me quite confused!!

An engineer is someone who can make something for two shillings
that any bloody fool can make for a quid.

I believe this topic is here to stay for a long time , and it should be. This looks like Rolex's way into the future and should come under scrutiny. Thanks Folk's, keep it going I am enjoying it and paying close attention.

I just like my GMT IIc. Brittle, soft, hard, elastic, plastic...whatever. I like the watch and wear it.

Because the thing is these topics are so common and they keep popping up, it's like playing a broken record a million times. If you look in this thread though, it will give you some answers.

I'm more concerned about this allegation of Rolex embezzling something. Now, that is something we need to discuss. And fast.

I, for one, agree with mr Varney. Tool watch shmool watch... My Deepsea is good for nothing. Tried to strip a wire - no success. Tried to nail a piece of drywall with it - no success either. All that it is good for is an extremely awesome paperweight that tells accurate time, can take a 3900+ meter dive, fine-adjusts with the glidelock, has a date on it, lights up a room at night, and wears comfortably as glove for its size. Shame on you, Rolex. Stop embezzling from us, or we will bring this up again........ and again........ and again......... and again........ and again........ and again......... and again........ and again......... and again........ and again........ and again......... and again........ and again......... and again........ and again........ and again.........and again........ and again......... and again........ and again........ and again.........and again........ and again......... and again........ and again........ and again.........

O.k. everyone get out the deepsea. It's time for a test. Start smacking it on a concrete surface. Count how many times it takes to bust the crystal or shatter. Also keep track of how hard you hit it before it goes. We'll do our own survey...I'll wait for the reports.....Go!!!!!
