Thank you.
If you don’t mind, I would be happy to send it in a private message. I don’t want personal info on this forum.

I think the high cost is due to a new diamond bezel, however, I would assume they would reuse/credit you for the diamonds on your old bezel. Still a shocking bill.

Found a Way to post the estimate without Personal Information

Here is what I am willing to post on the estimate. Final bill was $11K++ and yes-insurance paid for it. State Farm.

Glad everything turned out well in the end.

Was this under your home owner's policy or a personal articles floater?

It would be more than a 11k repair if the case also had to be replaced.

I had a personal articles policy added. Without it, I would only have been covered for $5k.

Duchie I’m glad you got that sorted.

We have never known a Duchess. How should we refer to you?

Am sure the Duchess will respond to this(in due time, of course)but meanwhile
the correct address for those below the rank of Duke/Duchess is "your Grace", followed by "madam" or "ma'am".

For those of equal rank-i.e. other Dukes, Duchesses-like me-I'm the Duke of Earl-so I would address her as Duchess followed by "ma'am(but only out of politeness-'cause I'm her equal, me being a duke-of Earl).

Interesting how Dutchie was used to avoid the meaning of Kutchie but eventually came to mean the same thing as Kutchie.

Always a trap for rookies.
Especially when dealing with straps of some kind other than those straps with deployants.

First rule, try to avoid puting on or removing a watch over a hard surface in case it accidently drops.

Definitely need to look into insurance. You could get a new watch for the price of repair. Glad they put it back together and would love to see before and after.

Dear Readers-
I received my watch back today. $11,000++ later and wanted to post a photo of it over my plush sculpted carpet. I came to TRF for help and advice because as a first time Rolex owner, I was shocked and surprised by the amount of damage, the cost for repairs and the claims Rolex makes on their timepieces. Some of the comments I received were incredibly helpful, some very unnecessary.

I guess it’s well known in public forums, that people will say mean things that they normally would not say in public. And I will just ask that in the next circumstance, where someone is honestly being vulnerable and asking for help and advice, that if you feel the need to be mean or bullying that you refrain. Hearing that others had been driven off this site was an unpleasant surprise.

On a positive note:
• There was no damage to the movement
• I have a 2 year warranty on the Factory Service and Overhaul
• I received it 6 weeks earlier than anticipated, with no additional costs incurred, so perhaps my letter to the CEO helped
• My insurance company did not bat an eye, and after 30 years with them as a customer, they helped me through this with grace and dignity.

Regarding the Engineer and the calculations. I gave the advantage to Rolex in the calculations. The movement was undamaged, and I believe their claims are correct. While one scientist noted that it would be impossible to calculate and my Engineer’s work was invalid, I respectfully dispute this. My goal was to test Rolex’s claims. Given the calculations and the evidence of no damage to the movement, I believe their claims are correct. Again, Thank you to those who helped me. It was invaluable advice.
Looks new!
