DJ41 blue, black, or rhodium !!!
My final thread on this before I decide to keep my order for the blue open or change it.
Although everyone’s input on my blue or rhodium threads were very helpful I still can’t decide ! For anyone reading who hasn’t seen my other 2 threads I have ordered blue dial, smooth bezel and jubilee bracelet but I’m having second thoughts on the blue for a couple of reasons. 1 - I worry it may clash with more clothing colours. 2 - I already have a watch with a blue dial ( I have a watch with a black dial too but I don’t think you can have enough of them ) Can people please dost pics of the following spec.. Black dial Jubilee bracelet Smooth bezel Thank You ! |

Here was my black before I traded in for blue. I never had an issue with clashing for either. I also have another blue dial watch (bluesy) and black dial watch (sub). I just went with the individual watch I like more and for me the blue is way better with the datejust, way more interesting. I do think black is better than rhodium.
In my experience: Blue>black>rhodium

Rhodium is the absolute way to go!
I lost a few hundred bucks on this same debate- I thought I loved blue but it wasn’t meant to be. Dark Rhodium is amazing Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

This isn't exactly what you asked for - but I just love this photo. It's one of my favourite watch photos ever actually.

I had the exact same dilemma as you, and ive been finding it so difficult to decide - so I went to my AD last week and said id probably stick with my choice of the rhodium, but to my surprise they had both dial colours in, in my ideal config's too.
Once I saw the blue I just fell in love, the Rhodium isnt very legible in certain lighting and I think my AD hit the nail on the head when she said "maybe you should keep the darker colours for the sports models, as most of them are black". ive gone for the Blue and will collect it in the next week or so.

I bought the DJ41 with blue dial, fluted bezel and jubilee bracelet.
I like the rhodium dial but for me it is a bit dull and the black dial would not be an option for me because I already have a Submariner and Daytona with a black dial. Later I bought a slightly used oyster bracelet at a bargain price for my DJ41 to change the look from time to time but I really prefer the jubilee bracelet. Personally I think the best bezel / bracelet combination for the DJ41 is: - smooth bezel + oyster bracelet - fluted bezel + jubilee bracelet You wouldn't be disappointed with the blue dial and don't worry about matching your clothes or what ever with the watch.

Third thread on the same topic and you just abandon the other two? Did you go to the Rolex site and look at their photos, as well as going to Google images?

Honestly, I agree. OP we are trying to help you, but I think you should take a break from this, take a breath and come back to it. You already ordered the blue, wait for it to come in and see it in person. Otherwise I don’t think you are ready to make this decision and will always second guess. You are only going to get advice from us that is our personal favorite. Own this, this needs to be your decision. Best of luck to you!

And the REAL answer is...
Don't buy a Datejust. You aren't ready. |

DJ41 blue, black, or rhodium !!!
When I was ready for my Rolex I asked to see the DJ41 blue dial that I was drooling for by seeing pictures of it.
My SA got the rhodium and blue on the same tray, tried the blue first and I was not disappointed as it looked even better than in pictures. Then I tried the rhodium and at that point something so strange happened. While Blue is my favorite color and despite the fact I was there to see the blue and the blue only, the rhodium stole the show for me, I found it to classy so amazing. Loved how it complement the silvery shine of the bracelet and crystal. That dial looked and felt like it’s made of the same metal that constitute the watch and bracelet. I liked it more than the blue and I didn’t like that :-) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Just one further point - only buy one of these watches if you are truly in love with the model, research its history, try them on, thing about how you'll use it.
If you are half hearted its not the right thing to do.

I've ordered the rhodium. My thought process behind it is that it is a bit more subtle than the blue and it is kind of monochrome with the bracelet and bezel which I think will make it more versatile as a sporty dress model. It also works well with blue, black and grey clothing. Maybe it would clash a bit with white clothing, but I rarely ever wear white.
You probably can't go wrong with blue, though. I think you almost need to flip a coin on it. |

The goldsmiths in Cribbs Causeway often has them when I go past (I last saw one there about a few weeks ago) The one in Cabot Circus also has them from time to time as well. |

Some pics of it look amazing and lots of people say it is but at the end of the day it’s grey which to me is a dull colour, but I hope I’m proved wrong when I see it. |

Then go with the blue because as mentioned, it looks black most of the time anyway depending on the lighting. I know you like the Rhodium, but at least you'll have two out of three colors.

I feel DJ’s look best with sunray dials generally.
I have a Blue DJ2 which is my favourite. I also have a silver Sunray and that’s pretty nice as well. But there’s no wrong dial, it’s personal preference at the end of the day. |

Not many people seem to have it in black, not compared to blue or rhodium anyway. Probably as mentioned before because people like that for their sport watches. Still surprising though as it looks really good. |

This might help the OP, same blue watch, looks blue, then black, then silver. Best of all worlds. A very unique blue unlike other blues.

I find most of the time it looks either dark navy blue or black. It does pop blue in the sunlight, but it is always a nice surprise. I really love it but you have to love it.

Had an opportunity to by either color in 2018. Rhodium did it for me. Never regretted my choice now that it has been years later.

Good choices *except* do yourself a favour and get the fluted bezel. It's really the classic bez in concert with the jubilee. If it's a cost consideration, wait until it fits your budget. The blue or rhodium is a tough call - I have the rhodium and have never been happier.
If you haven't seen these watches *in person* this is an exercise in futility. I realise you didn't need this picture but I figured another look might be helpful. |

I wanter something different than the fluted, jubilee due to already owning this configuration. I also wanted the sportier, slightly toned down look.
