Thanks everybody.

We made alot of progress this weekend. All the flooring is now installed and all that remains are the transition pieces and trim.

My buddy (the contractor also a Brian) really stepped up and had two of his guys here all weekend.

Life should get back to normal this week.

Oh, and Andrea decides now is a good time to repaint the basement... of course she's right, I just didn't want to take on that at the same time.

I drew the line at redoing the bathroom though

The flooring looks great Brian! Now you’ll get it repainted and then onto the next chore

Yes we decided to tackle the painting ourselves ... we’ll see how that goes

Thanks for all the kind words

We are finally are ready to move back in ... new flooring, new paint and new most importantly new plumbing.

We have yet to finish the downstairs bar but we are close.

That's all our stuff in under the tarp in the background of the second picture

Well done, Brian. Looks like you've made the best of a bad situation.
Very nice looking floor.

Wow, great job.

I know the feeling, we came back from a 2 month holiday back in January and on the second day back I heard a hissing noise in the kitchen, a pipe underneath one of the kitchen sinks had just burst and was spraying uncontrollably in the cabinet. When I opened the cabinet door the kitchen had a layer of water on the floor in no time.

I don’t want to think about what it would’ve looked like if that happened during the 2 months we were away...

Glad you managed to get workers during the covid-19 period!

Had slightly slightly similar experience a couple of years ago.
We were off for a month in Greece. I was doing the 'last quick look around' when I heard a feint ticking sound, coming from the under sink in the bedroom en suite.
I touched the very slightly, weeping joint and hot water began spraying all over the place!
Anyway............long story, short. Some Teflon tape and a couple of spanners, and job done. That could have been horrible! A month's worth of hot water in an upstairs room!!!
The cabby, waiting to take us to the airport was a bit shirty, about the 15 min delay, so missed out on a tip.haha

But, lesson learned, turn EVERYTHING off, and empty the tank in the roof space.

Glad things are back to normal Brian. Water damage and leaks is something that I am super paranoid about.

Good to know things are back to normal. Wise daughter you have! I’m biased, daughters are the best. :)
Yes, it does feel like Mother Earth is having her say in 2020.
