Is the 5127g Calatrava rare?

Reason I’m asking is I’m having trouble finding one with original strap and full kit. I really like this version as a dress watch and I love the crown guards on it.

No, it's not rare, per se. It was a normal production model for some years, but keep in mind that at the time PP's production was less than it is now.

Makes sense. Thanks!

The 5127 was made in two periods: From 2005-2008. These have the 57 dots on the dial and use a caliber 315. It resumed production in 2010-2012. These are identified by 60 dots on the dial and a caliber 324 (a faster beat movement.

I purchased an early one in all original condition, full box and papers about two months ago. I find it beautifully simple and elegant. And i wear it frequently. I am awaiting a blue alligator strap from ABP Concept that I ordered to make it a bit more casual.

I cannot say it's rare. However, you do not see all original examples with box and papers very often in the white gold version. Maybe owners value and retain them? Or maybe there are not a lot of them in the market vs. current models. I really don't know. But I feel fortunate to have found one.

I believe it is rare compared to the other Calatravas of that time. With the crown guards, I think production was low as most people probably prefer a dress watch without crown guards. The guards make the watch special. I see very few on the market as compared to the 5119 for example.

I have a 5107 in WG and think it is one of the most beautiful understated Calatrava Patek made. As you've noticed, finding a full set of either reference is not easy.

That would look beautiful. Do you have any pics?

If you become ill and want to pay it forward please contact me. I'm serious. I'm the only one who I have ever really loved and taken care of.

It's in my safe deposit box and my wife won't let me go there (or anywhere else). I don't have the box and COO with mine.

i used to see more offeres in previous year than recently.
i guess people realized how great value they represent. i also noticed that famous calatrava refrences like 5296, 5107 and 5127 have dried from the market since PP decided to sieze thier production.

The 5127 is the nicest of the Patek Calatravas of the modern era followed closely by its successor the 5227. The 5127 is a very sensual, classic watch in a modern yet discreet size. I think the 5127s have simply found their way into more permanent collections. They cannot have been too rare as there was deemed sufficient demand for Patek to reintroduce the reference after initial discontinuance.

I considered getting the 5127 in white gold. During my hunt I learned about 5107 and decided to go with it, with a full white gold bracelet as well. Aside from the fullset I bought I had never seen another fullset available in the market in the past 3 years.

On the bracelet this watch is magnificent. Understated luxury at a bargain price.
Congrats on finding a full set.

The 5127 is a true classic. Perfect size and proportions. It looks elegant today, and will look elegant 50 years from now.

As someone mentioned above, I too think they have found their way into more permanent collections, and the owners hold on to them since they are such a great value.

Nice picture.

They are getting much more difficult to find, especially with full set. I was looking at the 5127, 5296, and 5107. I found a 5107r full set and finally pulled the trigger today. I went with the Rose Gold to add some color to complement the two steel rolexes in my collection.

5127

I've cycled through more watches than I care to remember, including lovely pieces from A. Lange and JLC. My Patek 5127 is one of the very few that has stood the test of time.

Especially appealing are the uniqueness of the crown guard and the clean elegance of the dial. I appreciate having a date feature, since the watch gets worn on a regular basis.

Mine dates to 2005, the first year of production, and has the 315 movement.

The 5127 cannot be considered rare, but it does have unique features which will make it of interest to collectors. Its successor, the 5227, is notable for not having a crown guard and for its slightly large case.

If you can find a 5127 with boxes and papers, I think it will be much more than a sensible investment. It will be a watch you can enjoy on a daily basis.

Thanks Dr Process! That watch is an -001 with a solver dial and should be ready to deliver in 3-6 weeks.

Just got to discover this reference and it looks beautiful. I am interested in a 5127G-001 at the moment but it comes with no box and no papers. However, just got overhauled by Patek in January 2022. This potentially would be my first Patek, is an overhaul from Patek a good proxy for a reliable watch for years to come (given no box, no papers)? Also, how much of a price differential do we typically see if no box, no papers (just want to make sure I pay an appropriate price for it)?
