Not that the OP should necessarily take this into consideration - I vote they buy what they like most, of course. But, which dial config is the most 'classic' daydate dial would you say?

I much prefer fluted bezels but I find the platinum reference 118206 with the glacier dial to be very attractive also. My wrist is a flat 7.25" but I think it is a good fit.
I really like your watch

I’ve been thinking about a DD recently and this is what I would like.

Congratulations.

I love the the 36 and the 40. I had purchased a mint 18238 as I wanted the classic size, even with 7.25in wrists. It has moved on and I may consider a 40 some day, although the allure of the 36 is strong for me as a dress piece. If you decide on a 36 I think the 18238 is one of the best values as it gives you the double quick set and sapphire glass. That's as old as I would go. However ALL daydates are special IMO so good luck with your search and update with pics! A few shots of mine, gone but definitely not forgotten!

Had a 36mm, but could not stop longing for the 40.. the band itself is other worldly.

Thinking of a day date next..

Congratulation! 40mm was the right choice IMHO.

Not sure what size wrists you’ve got, but regardless, that’s a terrific watch. Great choice! enjoy it in good health, and welcome to The Club.

I went with a 18238. 36mm with double quickset. Very happy, and quite reasonable as far as PM Rolexes are concerned.

I went vintage, an 1803. I liked the smaller 36 as all of my other watches are sport models and I just wanted a vintage watch, something close to my birth year.

And personally I think the value for the money is very high on a vintage DD. Good luck!
