SD 43mm or DS 44mm?

SD43 is a more comfortable watch. If you have an 8” plus wrist the DS won’t feel so ungainly. Smaller wrist than that and you’ll be wishing you chose the SD

Yeah buy purchase the SD first before thinking of getting the deepsea.


The wrist needs some conditioning before moving up the weight class just like in the gym

I've had both but currently have the 2nd gen DSSD. I like it because of it's hugeness etc.. but - it's not my daily. My wrist is 7.34 " and I've been through the panerai 47mm thing as well so large watches aren't unusual for me, however my main daily these days is either my 5 digit GMT or my Omega speedmaster.

If you can handle the thickness and weight, get the JC Deep blue to make a statement, plus its dial looks beautiful and amazing.

I currently own both.

2mm bigger bracelet
Diver Extention
920m more resistent
2mm thicker crystal
Valve Gas
Glossy/Matte dial
3235 movement vs 3135 Sub.
3mm more tick because is a SeaDweller for saturation diver vs Sub that is for Scuba Dive.

Of course all this is important for a Sea Dweller lover. For a normal buyer is only a bigger Sub and a DSSD a even more bigger

SD 43 more practical choice. Easier to wear daily and dress up or down. The DS is a helluva watch and more of a collection piece than daily IMO. I have 7" wrist and tried it on a couple times, too awkward with the thickness. Just sits too high.

I’ve got both and prefer my deepsea
It looks like a big solid timepiece carved out of steel
When it’s a hot day it does feels a bit heavy in the heat though

If they disguised the thickness better I would love the DSSD but I just can't get passed that giant slab of a midcase. The SD43 does a much better job managing the thickness. It is close to perfect.

With your wrist size and built, might as well go all in with DSSD. The thickness that many complain about should not be an issue for you. DSSD will feel more comfortable than SD43. Plus the JC DSSD feels more "special" due to the unique dial.

Deepsea is alright if one has a moderate size collection, able to rotate for different attire and occasion

Difficult to pick one over the other, but consider the superior clasp of the DSSD.
Assuming no issues with the comparative dimensions, it might just come down to whether you want the DSSD 'JC' blue fade dial or that nice line of red text on the SD.

I've never been 6'4" 250lbs so I can't say.

For me, SD43 is borderline too big but I can make it work.

DSSD is just comical with the thickness. Also way too top heavy and it'll slide around unless you wear it tight. The James Cameron dial definitely feels more "special."

They're both nice sit cones down to the size of your wrist. If picking for myself, it'll be the SD43.

So I have pretty thick wrists. So feel comfortable with DSSD or SD43

DSSD has good rock solid feel - which is great every now and then watch to rotate through.

Daily I prefer the SD43 or Sub especially to fit under shirt cuffs. The shear case thickness makes the DSSD a tough daily watch for me.

Never been a fan of that 'Ring Lock' text coupled with the over bearing size. The SD43 is an exceptional piece which sits perfectly in the sweet spot between little brother sub and the obese big brother DeepSea. The BMI on the SD43 is perfect IMO.
