111 or 312
Just curious...
Price aside, which would you choose if you could only have one? Oh, and why? Cheers

Tripple One !!!
Classic Luminor case Manual winding, robust and accurate movement Classic sandwich dial and dial setup.Open, classic, simple stylish and inviting Polished case Crystal back I have one and am biased !! Wearing mine on a stonewashed tan Julien Landa at the moment. 1950s case in 47mm is the winner...in 44mm not so sure.. |

312 without a question. It is simply an evolution of the Panerai brand as we know it today.

I'll add the awesome quick strap change system. It takes seconds, literally, to change the look of the 312.

And so we don't sound like horrid little fanboys, I will mention the only negative the masses mention. The lack of super dome. I too was disappointed at first and even for a few weeks after getting the watch(check my posts from months ago on this forum and others). But then I realized why Panerai chose to make it slightly domed and that is so it functions as a daily watch. A super dome would have obstructed your vision of time and more importantly been a hassle to maneuver your wrist in order to avoid hitting the dome around. |

The 312 is spanking the 111 in the poll...
The inhouse movement seems to be an important factor, the date perhaps a little less so. Funny thing about PAMs is that they turn my watch preferences upside down. Usually I dislike sub-seconds, lack of date, any polish, etc. but these features work so well in many PAM designs. Something I dislike is a PAM on a bracelet - looks all wrong to me... Cheers

312 here too...for all reasons mentioned so far...but my number one reason is the date, I can't remember the date for 30 seconds after I read it on my watches...

Here's a pic each of our two contenders, just to lively things up a bit...
Have to say that I prefer the hands on the 111. Love how they match the hour markers

between the two and if you can spring the additional dough...312...
but after appreciating PAMs for a while..I can see the allure of 111 and the historical significance... I am actually looking at a 183 (historical rad) as my next one... have fun!

I'd go with 111, and save more $ for 210 :)
2 watches = more fun Have you tried both on yet? Which one is smiling at you more? |

111 would be my choice. Love the elegance and simplicity of the dial, without the date. Manual wind also makes it more unique.

Back to topic, 312 is a good balance of price, perceived value, style.

I have both
I can tell you that on my wrist the 328 (312) is actually more comfortable. The 1950 caseback actually lifts the crown guard off the wrist a bit and makes it very comfortable. I have owned 5 Pam's and the 328 is my favorite. For those who aren't aware, the 328 is the same as the 312 exactly except for the bracelet. I actually removed the bracelet at the AD and have not worn it since.

201A/202A/203A/111/005 etc. .... love the classic Luminor case .... When I think Panerai,I see the classic Luminor case.
In the 1950s case...the 47s,are VERY nice.Yummy !! 289 wears comfortable on the wrist.True, the 1950s cased watch do lift the crown guard from the wrist. The 1950s cased watches do have some really sexy lines !! Thats the probem folks .... all Panerai watches are nice !! |

If the 312 was available back when I picked up my 111 it would have won out for sure.

I like the look of the 111 since I feel that it's more balance. The second hand on the 312 next to the 9 throws things off for me.
