I'm sitting here pondering a thought... (I haven't passed out yet. )

You think him wearing this extravagant monstrosity is the same as some guys buying those big, high horse powered, expensive sports cars to make up for their..er..lack of stuff? (race car drivers excluded from said comment) So this guy struts like a peacock through his neighbourhood. What a catch!

I can't tell what watch that is...is it spray painted gold? Isn't it just the shirt that needs to get him the world record in gold shirt wearing? Or whatever category this falls into.

I know I'm going to h***. I have a reservation number already.

[QUOTE=SearChart;5161611]Wearing a shirt of gold in a city with millions of extremely poor people? I'm sorry but I think he's the biggest A-hole on the planet.[/QUOTE

I am not going to go so far as to call him an A-hole, but with all the poverty in Mumbai that money/gold could have been much better spent.

Perhaps if he gets the record he will then feed a few hungry people.

His watch looks like a Gold Rado Chronograph. I don't know if Rado makes a solid gold watch? Probably just gold tone.

this one is not a joke, it has no gold but it is rediculously expensive. yes it is his own money but when i see people buying these absolutely sensless things sometimes i do question my faith in humanity.

Ridiculous. Speaking of clothing, I'm fed up with how many clothing companies have gone on the cheap. Dockers for one are a pathetic joke these days, and don't even get me started on T-shirts. The last Russells I bought were practically cheesecloth. I ordered a Camber Maxweight T from Allusaclothing a few weeks ago to see if I'd like them before ordering more. The finest quality T shirts I've ever encountered. I also like the fact that they're American made.

Very ostentatious taste for a country with many poor but then many of us do buy expensive cars and watches that could possibly feed a whole village in the third world for a year or years:), so whatever makes one happy!

A similar Guiness record was already won by a woman in 2008 so guess he's attempting a one up by doing a all gold twist!:)

It's obvious that he loves to flaunt his $$--that's for sure. For someone who has a "need" to put his success/failure on display, he is doing it extremely well. I think it come down to what we know about ourselves, family values, and our understanding of community, and education--or, lack thereof. I mean, does he think people will really take him seriously? Do something to help your community, dude! Now that's impressive

It might look tacky/tasteless to us, but this guy made his money in the garment fabrication business, seems to me this shirt is good publicity for his business. A business that probably employs lots of people.

Does anyone actually know this guy to judge him? The article also says he gives some of his time and money to his local hospital.

Beyond being a symbol of wealth and status, gold is part of worship and culture in India. Often it is gifted at weddings. And why not it is a great investment. Yes unfortunately there is lots of poverty in India, but spending your money that you earn and putting it back into the economy is not a bad thing.

I don't adovate flaunting your money, but people are entitled to spend it on what they like. Just think we should hold off calling him an A-hole without knowing what the guy is really about, that's all.

The rest he spends finding ridiculous ways to flaunt his wealth in front of poor people.

Different cultures have different mores but in most cultures it's expected that the very wealthy will 'put something back' by way of philanthropy. If he does then that's great, goodness knows his country needs it. Ultimately it's his own conscience.
Ownership of a Rolex or three is neither here nor there. Doesn't mean you're wealthy or even reasonably well off. Lots of guys have a dinghy & outboard that are worth more than my watches.

We know that, but many don't. You mention Rolex to some and they automatically think rich and / or pretentious so and so. A guy I know was astounded when he realized I was wearing one. He was under the assumption one had to be wealthy to afford a Rolex. He's a good guy, but not the sharpest knife in the drawer.

I wander if he is wearing deodorant. I would hate to stink up that shirt. My dry cleaners would probably overstarch the the shirt and ruin it.

I'll bet he's wearing pads. Wouldn't want to pit a shirt like that out.
