I agree. I actually think the recent hodinkee collaboration looks nice, but the mark xv seems to make more sense for my dollars

$6400 is quite high, even vintage 3hands IWC that this is inspired from don’t fetch half of that. Glad to see them do well, $2M in sales in 1 day for a watch blog is pretty good.

I picked one of these up and love it. While the price may be high, I couldn’t be happier. In the metal the ceratanium is great and the size is perfect (I have a smaller wrist). For me, the regular Mark XVIII is just too big and I don’t particularly like the date window and all the text on the dial of the spitfire. While only 1mm smaller than the regular Mark XVIII, the lugs are considerably shorter so the watch wears much better for me. I compared to the regular version at an AD yesterday and was blown away by how much of a size difference there was when measured lug to lug.
I have other higher end watches with very nice hand finished movements but this is not that and wasn’t intended to be. For my money, this is a great watch and WAY better when seen in person. Just my two cents. |

Actually if all 500 are sold (some were (are?) available in IWC boutiques), it is $3.2 million in sales. For a brand like IWC that is damn good.
