The ceramic bezel is major as steel bezel is scratch magnet

If you have a big collection, go for the 500C.

If not, go for the 520.
It's more versatile.
The SS bezel is Sporty, and also Dressy.
520 looks better with a suit, not so much with the 500C.

One of each and a SS Zenith Daytona if you can. These are not too hard to find 2 years ago, I missed a few killer deals on Zenith Daytona during the great recession.

Never was a fan of the ceramic bezel for the Daytona, it truly changed the look. The 116520's ss bezel makes it very universal for any occasion.

For black, the 520. For white, the 500.

I don’t think there’s a wrong answer. You’l Know what’s right for you when you try them on. Good luck.

Same here. The 116520 looks a little smaller and is a bit more comfortable to me than the 116500.

You need to try on both and see which sings to you.

Even though they are the same size, the 116500 looks bigger.

I will say for legibility, somehow the black 116500 is more legible that the black 116520.

Daytona 116520 or 116500

I personally wouldn’t pay that premium for the ceramic...it’s a current model and prices are likely to soften. It is a nice piece and the bezel good if you’re a freak about any scratches. If open to expanding your search, I would encourage you look at a 16520. It’s the first auto Daytona and Paul Newman wore one for starters. Those are also reasons why it will likely continue to be sought after and most collectible of the auto’s over time. I also prefer the 16520 dial aesthetics better among the three auto’s, due to the slimmer hour indices, centered sub-dials and slimmer chapter ring surrounds. If that option doesn’t appeal, then I would go with the successor and drive a better deal than 16k and pay no more than 14 -15k.

I’ve owned both and both dials and the 116500 is hands down my favorite in both dials.

116500 without a doubt, the black ceramic bezel frames the watch and looks like a more modern 6263.

The 116520 is by far more a classic looking daytona.

I would try and pick up a better condition & newer 116520 even if you have to pay a few extra bucks. The condition of that 2007 is just not quite good enough, there are plenty put there; enjoy the search and anticipation.

500 owning both the 500 gets my first time as I` can wear with out worry. The bezel already looks marked on that one.

Was able to try both models earlier and i must say the ceramic 500 sang to me more. It’s such a gorgeuos looking piece. I think im decided on getting the 500c next week. It will cost me 21k USD but i dont mind. Hope its value wont decrease overtime.

Good luck with your decision. While Daytona’s have been above Msrp at resale for some time now, they haven’t been to this level on a current model of almost twice the retail cost. If you really are worried about overpaying, I would work a better deal or wait. I really think the ceramic prices will soften.

I would not be able to plunk down 21k on the 116500 knowing the retail price. The price will eventually come down, and you are overpaying about 8k or so.

On the other hand Rolex is no longer making the 116520, so one can assume prices will only go up.

Tough call, but if both were the same price I would jump on the 500.
