Day Date Bracelets
My question is this, if I purchase a Day Date with the crocodile bracelet now can I get the all gold president bracelet later on? The Day Date is my grail watch and I do not want to spend a big chunk of my life trying to save up and not be wearing the watch. So I figure that if I purchase the Day Date with the leather strap sooner, I can purchase the gold bracelet later. Thanks for any information about this.

Unfortunately you cannot on six digit serial Day Dates. There are substantially different endlink and case designs for both watches. Your best bet would be to find a five digit serial watch head as this wasn't the issue with five digit watches. You can swap bracelets all day on those... Good Luck.

What are the production dates for the 5 digit serials vs the 6 digit serials?

The last of the five digit day date watches were model number 18238. From what I was able to find it looks like 1999 was the last production year. Dealers prob had them in stock thru 2001-2002.
