My First GS! SBGA387 Spring Drive

I have a tremendous amount to say about this watch but I'll try to keep it brief.

I've had GS on my mind for about a year now. There have been several models that piqued my interest but obviously none that sang to me enough to pull the trigger.

I looked at this limited edition SBGA387 several times a day for weeks when it was released. There was just something special about it to my eyes.

Anyway, my main man, the best in the biz Takuya had one and I decided to make a move. I am certainly not disappointed, in fact, I'm frankly blown away. I really don't think I've ever seen another watch like it (definitely have not owned one). It is absolutely stunning.

The case design, finishing and details are incredible, but the star of the show is obviously the dial. It's insane. It's absolutely mesmerizing.

I will say the bracelet is kind of ordinary, maybe even disappointing. It was a pain in the ass to size and after an hour of playing around I still couldn't really get the perfect fit. I ended up going with a loose fit which should work well for the summer.

Lastly, I've photographed dozens and dozens of watches. This might just be the most fun watch to photograph ever. It is however a major challenge to capture the dial in all different light. It is forever changing.

Enjoy!

Congratulations and terrific pictures! I made this my first GS, as well, right at the end of the year but it certainly won't be my last. It is drop dead gorgeous and you've really captured all of the fine details that I admire about it.

I don't find the bracelet all that bad either and think that the alternating brushed and polished bits complement the case very well. It's not as robust as others, as you mentioned, but I was able to get it to fit perfectly by removing one link on each side so find it very comfortable.

Absolutely beautiful! The strap combination is lovely as well. Congratulations - I would really enjoy seeing one in person - that dial!

Congrats. Beautiful piece. It's amazing how Taro Tanaka's 1960s case styling still looks completely modern

Congratulations. This was also my first Grand Seiko and I have not been disappointed. It is my most accurate watch. The case is amazing and the dial is stunning. It took me a minute to get use to the bracelet but it works for me and I will put it on a strap at some point. Enjoy.

Put mine on the strap (for first time) yesterday after seeing these pics... maybe because my wrist is smallish (6.75), the case and lug thickness ratio to the strap width/thickness seems a tad out of proportion and mildly awkward. Think I will be putting it back on the bracelet sometime this week.

These are the best photos I have seen so far of this watch, even better than the GS's own marketing photos!

Most leather straps are thinned out at the lugs. You can get a custom made version where it does not do this.

I think it looks good on the strap. At some point, I will put mine on the strap. I would wear it and give it a little break in time as it typically takes a while for the strap to become comfortable.
