First Timer

Looking at purchasing a DATEJUSTII. This is my first move into this market. I am researching watches and the DJII looks good. I want a watch that I can wear to nice events but more importantly I want something like a Rolex Watch that I can hand down to my daughter if and when she has a son. A family keepsake.

I am 6'1" 210lbs just wondering if this 41mm DJII is too big for me and my average sized wrist. I like a fair size watch but I do not want a watch that is too big that it looks gawdy on my wrist and I then look like a rapper wanna be.

Suggestions/thoughts anyone??

Best way to tell is to try both the DJ and DJII on at your nearest AD and chose the one that best works for you.

I'm about the same height and weight. I walked into the AD expecting to buy a 36mm DJ and ended up feeling it was too small. I tried on the DateJust II and nknew almost immediately it was the right one for me. I'd suggest trying both on and making your decision on which feels the best to you.

Does anyone know if Rolex will ever make a pure SS DJII....find the SS/WG combi to blingy. Anyone feel that way as well?

Of cos, it will be better if the SS version will be cheaper than the current line-up of cos :p

i too have tried the 36mm DJ many times and have always felt "something was missing"..... and i wanted to wait for the DJII to try before purchasing a DJ of some sort. for me, the DJII just felt "proper" for my 7.25" wrist. as soon as i tried 2 DJIIs on (1 x SS and 1 x TT), put the deposit down for a TT.

here is my 116333

Great Photo, perfect time piece.

Yea its called the Milgauss.

But in all seriousness, its not the WG(which is only the bezel btw) that makes it shine(I refuse to use the "B" word), it's the fact that the bezel is fluted.

How much heavier is the steel model compared to the orgional? I know the old model was around 5 or 6 ounces.

The jubilee bracelet is not an option for the DJII. The DDII comes with a president bracelet.

In this review you say that the 41mm DJ isn't for you because it's too big. I read in one of your recent posts that you regret purchasing your 36mm datejust. Have you changed your mind at all on the DJII? Do you still consider it too big for your wrist?

Nice review - I favour the Grey/Black roman numeral dial at the mom.

Only just noticed this - I have become more used to the Datejust II in terms of size, and I do think it looks handsome in its 116300 layout. Size-wise, 40mm + suits my wrist size best, but in terms of style, I prefer a slightly sportier watch these days - although I think the DJII is a better prospect for my wrist, the style of the watch isn't to my taste these days
