1570 hairspring question

My 1680 dropped and stopped it from running, a day ruiner for sure.

I took it to my local repair, an excellent technician who is just getting his start here and had him look at it to see if it was indeed a staff, it was, and he pointed something out to me. The hairspring is gold, not blued or steel.

Is this an after market hairspring or did Rolex use gold (colored) ones?

Thanks

Thanks

Actually, the only thing I'm trying to find out is whether Rolex used a gold colored hairspring.

The only ones I've ever seen were either blued or steel white but I'm limited to a couple of dozen I've personally dealt with over a few dozen years and I don't necessarily remember accurately.

Enjoyed the article nonetheless.

I have seen quite springs over the years which were "slightly tinted" a golden colour. Remember these were created at a time when Rolex relied upon external suppliers for hairsprings. Unless it has been obviously modified I would expect it to be original.
