What's a "2008 Pledge Member"? I just saw this on someones left side profile where "TRF Member" would go...did I miss something?

Are we pitching in to help defray costs here? I'll chip in if we are. I have seen that done on the BMW KLT forum I belong to. One cool thing about that was you got little perks for the level you contibuted to. Perks like having an animated gif for your avatar.

marcus 'cmr' made a contribution towards the operation of the forum. In doing this he asked for nothing in return. I decided to show some appreciation and gave him a title of '2008 pledge member'. I will try to make his experience more enjoyable on the forum, but at this stage I haven't decided altogether what I can do.

The forum software will be upgraded soon, and so I appreciate the contribution made by marcus.

I like the idea of an animated gif avatar.

i just felt it was only right to try and help a little. i don't know much about computers but a friend of mine runs some kind of dirt track racing forum (i have never been to the site) and he told me after a while as the site has increased in members, posts and pictures it takes more band width and inevitably costs more money for the servers and all that computer stuff. since i know it costs money to run this type of thing and ALLOT of time from the admin and mods i just wanted to show my appreciation for being allowed to come here and learn about my favorite brand of watch and be with a like minded community of fine people.

thanks again.

Good on ya' Marcus! Thanks. If photos take up band width then we need an awful thick band!

and I can say that since Steve took over, the bandwidth on a per month basis has gone up FIVE times I'm not comfortable disclosing the exact number since it is not mine to disclose, but the forums are definitely growing fast.

Steve, if you see this, you need to check the cookie settings in the admin cp... I could go into detail on this if you like, but something seems to be set wrong in this regard.

hey, another pledge member! are we growing?

all i know is every time the bandwidth increases so does the server fees. i am quite sure this site isn't cheap to operate.

I've been a member of Paypal for many years now. Never had any issues. Probably because I just pay and accept money using their services. You know, stay close to the center-line. Many of those who have had issues w/Paypal involve dispute resolution, complex transactions, overseas and unusually large payments. For more pedestrian stuff, I'd guess a very large percentage of things go just fine. JMHO and experience...
