Deep Sea 126660 Black dial - One month review!

This is my first Rolex, and will very likely be my daily for many months or even years to come!

For tax reasons, I picked the watch up on my way to a family vacation in Fiji - a few weeks after I got the call. These were a nervous few weeks for me, as even though I had tried the watch on and was confident it did not wear too large on me, I found myself second guessing...would it be too big after all??

Happily, once on my wrist again all of those fears evaporated and it just felt right. Within 4 hours of walking out of the AD's airport store, my Deep Sea was in the warm tropical sea!

The first thing I noticed, was that I barely noticed I was wearing it...the bracelet and glidelock are simply superb, and I still can't quite believe ANY watch can be so incredibly comfortable - let alone one that weights 225 grams!!

Being able to loosen the glidelock when my wrist swelled slightly on the aircraft was simply revolutionary...this is now something I would not want to be without.

In comparison, my Tudor Black Bay does not feel as comfortable to wear on it's bracelet, so I will now put that onto it's (excellent) fabric strap, in case I can ever bring myself to take off the Deep Sea.

I find the Deep Sea fits relatively easily under a sleeve, but then again I prefer french cuffs so no doubt that helps. Everything I have read about this watch wearing better than it's size would indicate is absolutely correct.

There is something quite stunning about the way the thick (5.5mm) crystal magnifies the dial, it really is great to look at. It also seems to mitigate the lack of cyclops.

From an accuracy perspective, the new 3235 movement was slightly outside the plus/minus 2 secs per day standard for the first week or so, but I attribute that to me being quite lazy and largely horizontal for much of my holiday in Fiji....now that I am home, and more active, it has settled in to consistently losing a half second per day.

I wanted my first Rolex to be a Black Dial. I understand the love for the James Cameron version, but for me the Black is the correct choice right now.

I understand the OP went swimming, not diving, within 4 hours of his flight. Diving would not be safe -for him, not for the watch-.
Great watch BTW, I also like the black dial better.

Congratulations! I owned both black and D-Blue (several times each) and if I had to pick one today, it would be black.

congrats I own a DSSD and love it, the weight grows on you and when you take it off you feel lost, thus the positive of wearing it. Keep up the good reviews
