Redundant or complimentary?

As some of you may know, just recently picked up a Saxonia Outsized Date in Lange’s beautiful pink gold and black dial. Just loving it. So much so that I’m already contemplating adding a “white dial” option.
Would the Saxonia moon phase is white gold or rose gold be redundant??? I’ve tried both the outsize date and the moon phase side by side (in black dial and white dial) and besides the obvious dial color difference and the added complication, I was actually surprised at how diff they wore from a size standpoint despite being only 1.5 delta between the two.

Thoughts and comments? Pics for reference...

redundant to me. Id get a Lange 1 if i wanted a silver/white dial. 1815 chronograph otherwise.

It’s less redundant than just another of the similar model watch. Many people get multiples of the same watch.

To each their own, Many people on this site have No Date Sub, Date Sub, a few Rolex GMTs all pretty similar watches and it makes them happy.

Personally, I wouldn’t get the same model watch in a slightly different size and metal/Dial and complication. My wife on the other hand think I have a slew of the same watches, just thin gold watches on straps.

Redundant in in the eye of the beholder.

At a very basic level not redundant at all; one is a black dial the other white. Two completely different watches to 99% of the population.

That would be my approach as well.

I do see the points that others made regarding the different dial color and complication, but if it was me, I would be looking at something that is a bit more different.

To each is own, but with how expensive watches are, I'd prefer a bit more style/brand diversity. Still, that moon phase is just gorgeous.

as some as said already, many people have no date sub, date sub, sea dweller, sea dweller 4k etc and do not think that is redundant... i personally would not go that route with my collection.

I could easily argue that the moon phase and non phase is much more different than any of the a aforementioned Rolex variants. But, for me personally i would try to step into Lange 1 moon phase if it suits your taste.

Its another level up in terms of Langes.

I’d also rather get a Lange 1 Moonphase just for a bit more variety in the collection. But if you really like the look of the Saxonia and want two of them, by all means, you should get what you like. I can see enough differentiation to justify having both.

If it was my money I would get something else.

Perhaps something from PP to compliment your Saxonia?

A Patek ACs would be nice addition.

Whilst there’d be obvious similarities, a WG Sax moon with silver/white dial would be sufficiently different from the other model you already have.
That’d said, and echoing others’ sentiments above... “variety is the spice of life”.

All good input...and excellent points on the multiple "subs" in some people's collections. Didn't even make that connection that some exclusively collect a certain ref/model but in different variants. Hmmm..yeah maybe it is feeling like another saxonia would be a little redundant...perhaps I go the 1815 route. And yes, a PP annual calendar is certainly tempting and ironically, I've recently tried on (again) the 5146's...

Depends how many watches you have. If trying to control the numbers then I’d seek something else. 1815 line or PP

There are a lot of other beautiful white dials to get! I do love that moon phase sax but could there be others you're eyeing?

On the one hand, they are somewhat redundant because they are basically the same watch and feature very similar movements and complications. On the other hand, the moonphase and the dial color and possibly the metal and strap colors are different, although I really prefer the rose gold with the white face and moonphase. If it were me and I wanted another Lange with a moonphase, I would get the 1815 Annual Calendar instead, as it looks considerably different, has a totally different movement that is manual wind, and features a different complication in addition to the moonphase. You would, of course, be eliminating the big date and the 1815 Annual Calendar would cost you around 50% more but it would be well worth it, in my opinion.
