Questions about a 1680/8 with worn serial number

So a friend wants to sell me a 1680/8 with blue nipple dial his grandfather gave him. He does not have the original bracelet and when appraised for insurance it was noted that the serial was worn. On the appraisal it notes the caliber 3135 but the watch has a dive rating of 650ft/200m. Can anyone confirm if this is a 1967/1979 era 1680/8 for me and give me insight if it would be odd for there to be a 3135 movement? It’s possible the appraisal notes are just inaccurate.

Are there any other indicators I can use to date it?

Uh yes. The 3135 didn't come out until 1988.....

A 1680 from this era should have a case-stamp date on the inside.

Does not sound like the appraisal is worth the paper it is written on.

So either the watch is incorrect and has mixed dial and movements or the appraisal is just trash? Possibly he didn’t open the watch and thought the serial should be on the lug when it was inside the whole time and a 1575 movement? I plan on having someone open the watch to inspect it and figure out what’s going on.

Post photos inside and out if you want truly useful feedback.

A depth/dive rating of what? ;)

I don’t believe a 3135 movement will fit inside a 1680 case. As others have mentioned, post up some photos!

And yes, the serial will be on the 6 o’clock side lugs.
