Casio Oceanus -- perfect beater?

Ordered one of these last night. Originally I was going to buy a G-Shock, but I thought it'd be too large and thick to wear with anything but casual clothes

Things I like:

-- 40 mm diameter, 10 mm thick
-- clean dial
-- titanium case and bracelet; sapphire crystal
-- same movement used in G-shock
-- sync to atomic time (in US, EU, or Japan) with push of a button
-- change time zones quickly by turning the crown

I don’t think I ever realized how cool the Oceanus is. Now I’m looking into it. I kinda want a titanium watch.

I like it. Can the bracelet be removed or is it integrated?

I don't think I've owned titanium either. For $500 I figured this watch is not a huge risk. I was also interested in the atomic/radio-control timing aspect

I believe it is integrated -- I'll check once I have a hold of the watch

The package is hard to beat for 3-hand with date complication.

definitely always been tempted by these. I ended up with a Seiko Astron instead though.

Wow - great watch. A real bargain for titanium too. Figured the entry level for Ti would be at least double that.

Could definitely extend out of the beater category and into everyday wear with those looks !

very pleased with the watch. Changing time zones only takes a few seconds. Planning on using this for travel

For reference, my wrist is about 6.5 inches / 16.5 cm

Star Ferry now that you're about a month in, how are you liking your Oceanus? Is it resisting scratches any better than S/S?

Never heard of this watch, but it looks awesome. Really clean!

Also, I really don’t like the term beater. Remember, one man’s beater is another man’s grail. I know people don’t mean it in a negative way, but it still irks me. Ok, getting off my soap box lol...

I like the simple dial and it looks smaller than the Astron range.

But We don’t have the atomic radio service here.

The bracelet looks removable.

For GPS time sync and a compact watch, Seiko and Citizen are you best bet.

Otherwise, Casio Oceanus does have a OCW-G2000 line up that can do GPS time sync.

I have the G-Shock MRG-G1000 and the GPS sync works very well.

The OCW-S100 actually have an integrated bracelet. The center part of the lug is actually part of the case. So its not aftermarket strap friendly.
