I have a 312 that is not working at all. The second hand isn't even moving. The only thing that spins is the half circle that says panerai. Any ideas is it a quick fix, or does it have to be sent in for surgery. What's the warranty on it, and do I just go to an AD and drop it off or send it directly to Panerai. I appreciate the help. Mike, I've tried to manually wind it. I don't know if I'm doing it correctly. Just curious what is the correct way to wind it.

Have you been wearing the watch regularly e.g. for several hours per day, or has the watch been resting and wound down?
Unlock the crown lever and give it 30 or so winds in a clockwise direction to see if it starts. Fully wound, it should have ~72 hrs power reserve

It's just been sitting for about 2 months. I wound it up but nothing happened. Still no movement.

Yes I did shake it. usually the gold wheel on the back by the 6 o clock side is spinning. It is not moving at all. It doesn't even move when I shake it a lot.

Does the crown appear to be working correctly? In other words if you pull it out to its different positions can you move the hands and also see the date change? Perhaps check the owners manual if you are unsure of the operation. When you try winding, does it feel as though it is 'engaged' and actually winding the movement?

The watch had a 2 year warranty from new. If you can't get it to run I would take it to your AD

Try manually winding the crown 40-50 times in a clock wise direction. If it's been sitting for two months theainsrping needs to be wound for it to start. Every once in a great while you may need to wind it like I said and give it a smack on your palm dial side down to get the balance wheel moving if winding alone won't do it. Good luck!
