Novelty question from an AP rookie

I always figured I would add a royal oak to my collection at some point, but I was all set that my next watch would be the Glashutte chronograph. Then I saw the new AP grey dial (novelty). I've been wanting a nice gray dial for a while, and I can see me loving this watch forever.

I searched this forum and couldn't find too much general info on AP novelties. I assume these will be produced in limited number? How many years are they generally in production? Can I expect a big price jump?

Big thanks to everyone that can provide some knowledge

Novelty, or new, just refers to it being recently announced. Does not imply limited production.

Do you mean the new Titanium 44 with grey dial? If so these are normal production models so go ahead and buy one.

Whether you're referring to the new ruthenium dial RO or the Ti ROO they are both regular production watches. Nobody knows what AP may do regarding pricing in the future. Both should be fairly easy to come by for at least a few years.

Are you talking about the RO Chronograph Grey dial? You were referring to GO chrono so I assume you are still interested in an AP chrono? The grey dial Royal Oak chronograph is boutique only and I believe is going to be 44K. It is not a limited number production. Or were you speaking about a Royal Oak Overseas or something else?

A novelty is a 2017 release. It is any watch, in any product line released by AP this year. Next years releases will also be novelties and the 2017 novelties will cease to be called that.

Novelty (derived from Latin word novus for "new") is the quality of being new, or following from that, of being striking, original or unusual.
In the cases of watches specifically, it refers to the first bit.

I assume you are referring to the royal oak 15400 with the grey dial? If so, its a great watch. It is not however limited edition, or a boutique exclusive.

that titanium/platnium RO Chrono is amazing. No boutiques in the UK so i haven't seen in person. I really like the pride of Italy too. For such a small run there are a surprising number of them here on the forums.
