112 on JV

Psyched to finally be JV'd!

The last OEM strap I purchased was a dark brown Riva at the Florence boutique during my honeymoon in 2011. While there, the Panerai rep showed me both the gold and dark grey JV options and while I thought the nubuck alligator was cool, I liked the look of the Riva strap better.

Once I returned home and started researching the JV, I was sold on the killer patina photos of the straps after some wrist time.

I recently found a gentleman selling an unworn/unmounted JV in the right (standard) size and it was delivered today. I love it. It is a bit more of a muted gold color in person than I expected - despite my photos making it look like every other JV strap I've seen on the Internet - but it was almost immediately comfortable on my wrist and after a lot of aftermarket purchases it's great to have another killer OEM strap for the 112.

It's also nice to have a lighter colored, dressier option to break up all the darker leather ammo straps I've been buying lately, and I'm really looking forward to watching this thing develop its robust color character.

I hope you are all having a fine weekend, as always.

Nice strap - the JV looks great now on your 112. It will likely get better with age and use.

Thanks guys. I considered a light water misting to try and induce patina but think I'd rather allow it to develop naturally over time - Especially since I suspect that I will be wearing the 112/JV combo a lot.

I'm lucky in that I've had my 112 for a long time but never really caught the straplust until recently - And even then I was only after a few specific straps.

The last on my list is one of the "74 series" straps, but I need to figure out the best route to take on that one. There are a few options available, with the upgraded Wotancraft option seemingly the standout...we'll see.

Gorgeous 312! How old is your JV in this pic? It looks relatively new.

If people have JV patina shots, please by all means feel free to share! I cannot get enough of them.

Again, I hope you all had a great weekend and have an even better coming week.

Here's a JV Patina shot compared to other OEM straps. I actually washed it to bring some color back.

Yeah, I have had the strap for almost a year and only put it on occasionally... Stupid I know! So it currently looks like new, but looking forward to the petina as I wear it more.

Good luck with your new strap and enjoy!

JVs look good on everything. Here's my heavily beat up one on the 233. Check with a boutique or look on forums.

Nice. Thanks for the patina pictures, guys. mfer's keyboard picture is the one I kept pulling up, and that ultimately cemented my need for this strap.

I can definitely understand that. I went a while without wearing my 112 in favor of other watches, but in the end I'm glad I held onto it. I feel like I'm discovering the thing all over again and have really been enjoying a recent small strap binge.

I tried to order one at Panerai.com but couldn't find the right size and color I needed, so I searched online for someone selling a new/unmounted JV and purchased one from a fellow Paneristi in Hong Kong. I had it in my hands within three days of sending the money, and I wouldn't hesitate to do business with him again. Big props to Alex Y!

As for it going well with a 233, well, I can't think of a strap that would ever match poorly with that watch. It's gorgeous on anything.

Patina is in full effect.

Almost too in effect, as it developed quicker than I expected after a solid 10 days of wear. It has already picked up the deep golden brown tones of the JVs I've seen on the Internet, the color mainly coming after a night of dancing the night away at a wedding.

Now I'm wondering if I should retire it for a while in order to preserve its newness and current coloration as it's absolutely perfect right now. I've read that the strap will continue to darken until it takes on an almost black hue. I've also read that you can restore its original yellow with a Magic Eraser, but I'm in no rush to find out the truth behind either.

Heh. Who am I kidding, it's not coming off any time soon - I am loving the hell out of the JV.
