Fooled around with some straps. Gotta admit this watch is looking the best on its oyster bracelet. Although for a low profile natos do a great job!

Bit by the 1016 bug😅

Just received a Jubilee bracelet as well. I think it's a great option to sport a 1016 for formal events. I'll share some photos soon...

Liking the 1016 more and more. Always sold other 36mm rolexes but this one just sits perfectly on my wrist.

Sorry to influence you, not on purpose

It's the unpolished one from 1988 that I got eventually.

+1

I'm just sure mine would never be like this as one part of the equation I just can't fulfill

Direct sunlight - check

Store the watch in a dark place - what are you crazy?!

Iv been looking at 1987 datejust for my birth year watch but you may have persuaded me to start a 1016 hunt, although reading all your post it doesn't look to be the easiest thing to do! Especially factoring a single year into the mix!
Ow no what have you done!

Haha yea it's not easy I can tell you.
I mean, not talking you out of it but your chances are better with a DJ for sure.

Originally I wanted a 1982 as my birth year watch. Soon I realized I'm lucky if I can even find a good example let alone a specific year

That being said, wish you good luck for the hunt!

Yes I can see that from your hunt. There is something strangely appealing about the whole birth year watch tho! May have to be more broad on the watch to get the year right! I will defo keep a close eye out for a 1016 tho!

Having had such a massive search and some let downs along the way what would be your top tips for finding your perfect 1016?
Also do you have any recommended sites you used a lot?
And lastly what are the details to look for, other than the usual matching dial/hands, lug width and originality.

Sorry for all the questions but you are a 1016 pro now after your search!

I'm flattered by your compliment but man I'm far from being an expert in 1016.

Yes I have faced quite a few scams and a dishonest sale, but then what you have to look out fir can be easily put in a check list.

1. Condition - dial, hands, case, engravings etc.

2. Seller - check photos provided by the seller with google image. Even if it's a tagged photo!

Better even if you try to buy from a well known seller here on the forum or someone you know is reliable

3. Ask as many questions ad you need to get to know the watch in question better

As for the sites I'd recommend is Cosimo rare watches (got mine from Bas, he is a great guy), HQ Milton, Lunar Oyster, Matthew Bain, 10 past ten... etc. Others might weigh in with some other trustworthy sources.

Chrono24 at the end of the list, there are some very trashy 1016s there but you can find some gems from time to time.

Good luck with the hunt!

I will be posting photos of mine asap, tried to photo this morning as I have just had it back from having a T22 crystal fitted. Camera problems. I'll try to see if my brother has one I can borrow.
