If I were to put together a real collection, I would probably focus on Seiko. Good quality across a wide price range -- I just wish their sport models were less oversized.

I think it is very obvious. ;)
IWC3717 and Laco Westerland are missing from the group picture.

I own quite a few from various manufacturers -- AP, Patek, FPJ, ALS, etc etc but my collection is skewed towards chronographs and/or pieces with PR indicators

On my end I dislike the various risks involved in buying an old iconic watch. I prefer waiting for reissues. It may not be the real deal but something close to it and new, yes I prefer them.

Some iconic watches that have reissues are: Grand Seiko 3180, AP 1972 Jumbo, Rolex Daytona Zenith, etc. I hope to collect these and many more of those iconic watches in the future.

I also like to add that I like unique dial or bezel in my collection - the likes of Hulk, Batman or even the Snowflake. :)

I buy what I like, and that has changed over the years. I've always had a particular soft spot for the Genta designs (particularly AP), and chronographs were the name of the game for me. I also liked big, loudish sport watches (there's a reason why I've owned 4 Offshores in the past and still own one now).

Now I'm finding I barely use chronographs and like smaller, simple time-only watches, and classic, iconic designs. I would eventually like to add a ALS Datograph or PP 5170 to the collection though. I like to think it's just that my tastes are maturing.

Not conventional

I seem to like watches that are not seen every day.I also like variety My ap is a 4101 millinerary(pseudo skeleton look). My chrono is a journe centigraph. I have a blue dial parmigiani tonda 1950 wg with rg markers. I have a 42mmm panerai gmt as a beater and my moon complication is a grande lange 1.

What is Your Collection Focus?

1 watch 1 brand cuz it makes me choose what I like. I'm waiting on my vacheron 1921 and after that I don't know if I'll end up with an FPJ or a Laurent ferrier

If one was to look at my "collection" it would appear to have a lack of focus as my watches are the story of my watch journey over last 20 or so years but they fall into these basic categories:

1. Sentimental: (gift, first of something, ect.)
2. I like the story/history: ie: AP Series A, something odd by a large house, iconic,
3. I like the movement or the materials: new way to do an old thing,
4. And finally, I will admit to the left over "hey I made it watch" that is worth 50% of what I paid for it so I won't sell it..(I'm looking at you Rolex DD).

This is my favorite watch conversation...everyones collection is a reflection of where they have been, where they are or even hope to be. This really is the story of people.

I buy what I like and there isn't any fix patterns. Recently, I thought of collecting time pieces that have unique movement ( ie not duplicated in other brands ) moving forward. I already have the JLC Duometre Chronograph, the Grand Seiko Springdrive and am eyeing the very special and unique Lange Zeitwerks.

My tastes change sometimes and I want something different. I dont know if a collection will be static, I think it evolves. Uniqueness (within practicality) is what I go towards. And I want some flare without getting eyebrow raising. An office acceptable with some style. Im more of a modern watch person. I respect the horology history but the modern watches have come so far. Now a days, there are so many more watches to choose from.
