Trail running/hiking

With the summer heat comes more time in the mountains! Doing a lot of trail running and hiking. I thought I would share some scenery and encourage anyone else to contribute

Monday (7/13) two peaks, Circle All Peak & Gobblers Knob (bad name)
This is about 3,100 feet of elevation gain, 9 miles round trip. The wild flowers are starting to come in. I saw a Garter snake with the front half of a ground squirrel consumed in the middle of the trail on the descent, I'll spare that photo. The peak is 10,220 ft.

Friday (7/17) Sunset Peak above Brighton Ski Resort.

This is a pretty popular hike/run with a few lakes and sometimes wildlife. Saw a young Moose today. Aprox 1,900 ft up, 6 miles round trip. 10,670 ft at the summit.

Beautiful shots but where is that? I googled Gobblers Knob and it was in Washington State but I could only find Circle All Peak in Utah.

Thanks guys. I really like it here. These trails are all about 25-30 min from my home in Salt Lake City.

Wow, you've got some lovely scenery there! I went for a 5km run today and wish there was a place like that to go be away from it all

Come on out someday. I'm not registering for these races due to Covid this year, but i'll be knocking out the Snowbird/Alta/Brighton course maps on my own.

Sunday 7/19. These lakes are in the Uinta National Forest. This is a 16 mile out and back dirt road that's frequented with campers and recreational vehicles. I've camped up here quite a bit.

Those are pretty short races. Not worth the trip for me.
I definitely want to run a race in the US, but that will be a 100 miler, preferably in the PNW region.

I know they're much short than what you're capable of. These can be altitude training warm ups haha.

Monday 8/3

Two peaks, Sugarloaf (11k) & Devils Castle passing “Cecret Lake” *not very secret*. About 8 miles round trip. These are close together above Alta Ski resort. Common hikes in the ski season to get some extra turns. Much harder in ski boots. In the summer this attracts loads of people to see the wild flowers.

Very nice, thanks for sharing the pics! I'd live to snowboard in Utah sometime. I took a snow roadtrip through the mountains in Colorado a few years back, in march, and it was unforgettable.

It's a great place to ski/board. The three main canyons have two resorts each, and only 30-40 min from downtown Salt Lake.
