My favorite Rolex by far.

I have the old one and although I think the new dial looks OK, I prefer the original.

Its the only one I wear is my YM2 gold 2008 w/gold hands. With so many fakes going around with the subs, presidential, date-just and even the YM1. The YM2 is really hard to copy and you can tell if someone is wearing a fake or not from a million miles away.

I just tried on the SS YM2 today and . . . . I LOVED IT! Such a cool watch!! Sporty, and a lot of presence. Checks a lot of boxes. Kind of pricey for SS but it really packs a punch.

just picked up YM2 all gold!

Looove the wrist presence of this watch! Super comfortable and definitely eye catching. I prefer the new face with the new hands.

I prefer the white gold with the plat bezel (?) But would want it more without the word YACHTMASTER II written on it.

I prefer the blue hands for aesthetics and readability. Either way, though, it’s an awesome watch!

First iteration for me. I liked the watch design but, don’t care for the blue bezel, so I went with the PM.

Agreed, I have been putting off getting the YG, but may eventually. It’s just not that high on my list

i had the option to buy either one - went with the new one, harder to read but cosmetically easier on the eyes as there is less contrast on the dial. Side note - in a quiet room i can hear the rotor if i whip the watch around near my ear....i thought these were supposed to be quiet? Or is it that the 4161 movement has ball bearings like the 4130, and is thus more audible than ither rolexes?

The WG version has three iterations that I am aware of:
1. Silver hands square 12/6 hour markers
2. Blue hands square 12/6 hour markers
3. Mercedes hand triangle 12 hour marker

I have version 1 and I love the watch.

I like neither. I appreciate the complications, but it doesn't aesthetically appeal to me.

Big fan of this watch. I prefer the Mercedes hands. Lot of haters out there but if it was priced like their DJ/Subs I think many would change their tune. WG and SS are lit!!!

Follow Mrs. Reagan’s advice.

“JUST SAY NO!”

Get a Smurf to stay classy. YM2 = gaudy.

Yeah, I get why some of you guys say that. Esp. in the YG which is what I got. I think it would be more well-liked around here if people understood the history behind the name, and the functionality of it. For sure, it's not for everyone. As an offshore sailor and active racing sailor, the 10-minute countdown is actually very useful. The descriptions I've read on how the timer works with the start of a race are generally way off.

Did you know where the name comes from ? The term Yacht-Master dates back to 1938, when the Royal Yachting Assoc. in england created an int'l standard for mariners. Think of it as a very sophisticated version of a captains license, but one that is internationally recognized (USCG cap't lic. is only respected in the USA).

TO become a YachtMaster, you need deep training in weather, boat handling, advanced chart work, navigation, voyage planning, loads of science and math on tidal math and currents which impact course-to-steer to distant waypoints etc.... of course collision regulations, marine electronics... it's fairly intense.

The countdown functionality is arguably no better than any gas-station watch that counts down -- BUT--- think of how much I'm gonna save on batteries !

Maybe I should write a piece sometime on how we use the timer- in real life.

I prefer and have the second version. I have three other Rolex’s a Daytona, GMT and a Sub. The YM 2 is my favorite of them all. It’s beautifully weighted and is so comfortable plus it has a relaxed casual look. I love it!

I'm a fan of the new one - and looking to buy a certified pre-owned in SS. Or, a new one if I could find one.

BLUE...two reasons

1. It looks better.

2. It is the original version and will have been much more limited production than the second version. Historically speaking its these odd production runs and the "ostracized" current state by many enthusiasts, I am betting in 20-30 this will be one of the top Rolexes to find. Odd and unique complication, odd size for Rolex, original hands and massive presence on wrist.
