Icon20 New SD or DSSD

What are your thoughts on these 2, is the DSSD worth buying now or not as the new SD is big enough for people looking for a more prominent watch?

Dssd is still a lot bigger due to thickness. Still a big difference imo.

As a current owner of the SD4, I like the new SD sans the cyclops. I think the new size will go well with it function or depth tolerance but a 42mm might have fill the gap existing SD4 or DSSD owner might fall for, I don't know.

Some owner, WIS or non WIS alike, may lIke the cyclops, it screams ROLEX, nothing wrong there but personally I am no fan of one.

An interesting aspect is the height, SD43 appears to be comparatively 'similar' to SD4 and DSSD is a tall 18mm, if I remember correctly. Hence it might be point to note for those considering a DSSD and the new SD.

Just my 2c.

I'm a DSSD owner and completely content. Not even considering the new SD and would much rather have it's predecessor.

DSSD is ~18mm thick. Some people may not find it comfortable to wear (me included, although I own one). 126600 should be only 15mm thick (if it's the same as the previous version). People may find it easier to wear comparatively.

DSSD is a technical marvel but if you're looking one for daily wear it may not be the best choice.

Try both on before you buy.

I like both watches but in the end it may end up being straight economics for me. The pre-owned DSSD with the black face can be had for around 8K and can be found at numerous outlets. The new Sea Dweller, if like the Daytona-C, will be sold at a premium and have a wait list. Rolex used up all of my patience with the silliness associated with the Daytona-C. I wish they would stop playing games and put the watches into the market.

This is correct. DSSD is a real bargain, but it's a tuna can...
The new SD is a bit more reasonable size wise, but it will be quite a while until the preowned prices drop to that of the DSSD.

the DSSD is statement piece and it will really stand out when worn. but one must exude the confidence when wearing it

DSSD has the technical merit and more of the true SD heritage, new SD has the more advanced movement, glossy, slimmer profile and is 'obviously' Rolex at-a-glance (because of the cyclops).

It's tricky tbh.. 116600 versus 116660 was a no-brainer for me last week when I bought my DSSD, but 116660 versus 126600 would've given me pause for thought.

Yip, I have been after the DSSD JC and I tried a DSSD in black and loved it. Now I am on the edge.

I don't envy you having to choose at this point.. I think a stretch for the D-Blue if you're on the fence is a good shout

The DSSD is the purist's choice, but the new SeaDweller is more practical and they managed to nail the proportions.

I'd skip both and just buy a 16600.

If these are the thicknesses and it looks like it more and less, then the RSD will be easier to wear but I do prefer the D-Blue dial.

I bought the DSSD Blue with the intention of getting a Rubber B striped strap. It works out.

D Blue I think wins but for those looking for a bigger bulkier watch with going all the way the new SD will fit the bill and attract the Hublot, AP, Breathing crowd as a viable option when they thought the standard sub was too small. The older SD was bulk that basically on the wearer could feel or see and without the cyclops it was also much more under the radar.

I think the d-blue dial is a strong enough feature to always be in the race if not winning. The size and proportions of the new SD however look amazing, and much better imo than the DSSD. Except of course for the cyclops. We should really have an established acronym that discloses and proclaims the hate for the cyclops at the end of a whopping compliment. Lol.

For me, it's got to be the D blue for the dial, size, and engineering. Love mine and is my favorite dive watch. I will not be buying the new SD.

The thickness of the DSSD is the only knock against it (for me, of course). So, I would be interested in seeing how the new SD "rides" on the wrist.

But, having said that, I don't know if I could part with the D-Blue...guess we'll see.

Will certainly be interesting to see how the new Seadweller impacts upon the other dive models!

Not a fan of either. Prefer the six digit sub. Perfect for me.

I prefer the new SD, more elegant, better proportioned. In fact, I put my name down for one and I certainly wouldn't for the DSSD.
