A) I'm willing to bet that most people that don't like it, have never spent much time with one on their wrist. All of these close up pictures aren't a realistic experience.

B) As part of a wider collection, its tremendous. It's a blast to wear. It's FUN. And I can't necessarily say that about any of the dozen other rolexes I wear. Comfortable as hell. The ergonomics are perfection.

C) The original version, x 1000. What were they thinking?

I have the 116688 YM2 gold with gold hands. I love the watch for being unique and not a typical Rolex. The best part is that it came out in 2008 so it does say that it was not passed down from a family member.

Not sure I follow, what's bad about a heirloom piece? Besides, the same can be said for any modern Rolex, none of them quite looks like it did even 20 years ago. Not even the 36mm Datejust.

nothing wrong with a heirloom watch, its just that the YM2 is new to the Rolex models. I have heard several people tell me it was there grandparents or parents watch. In the last few years is when Rolex came out with the ceramic watches so this is regarding the non ceramic watches.

If I had to pick one, it would be the new one, however, I don't like this watch.

I found that trying this watch on completely changed my opinion of it. Yes, it is show-y, but it is striking and a load of fun!

Personally not a fan of this model, but the new one looks better overall.

Im a fan of the original version. I don't like the new hands and, as has been suggested on here before, it makes it look like Rolex are trying to save some money in the production by using parts common with other watches. It cheapens a fantastic watch!

It is an interesting watch to be sure but I loathe the giant "YACHT MASTER" text on the bezel. To me, this is tasteless and makes the watch akin to an inexpensive Invicta.

Give me the blue hands every time.

That said, it's an amazing watch...but I never could get the fit right, so it's moved on.

Went looking to for a Daytona:

But walked out with the Yacht-master II.

New here. Been reading tons of info here the past few days. I had my eye on a local pre-owned 116520 SS Daytona (my favorite Rolex model), and was about to go pick it up today. Then I decided to first check out a local Rolex AD, ended up trying on a brand new SS Yacht-master II, and walked out with it. Once it was on my wrist, I did not want to take it off. Thanks to this 2nd iteration, I was able to negotiate little over $2k off msrp, 10-year warranty (5 from Rolex/5 from AD), and 1 full service included. I prefer the blue hands but they did not know that.

Long story short, love my new Yacht-master II (1st iteration):

That's a good score. I tried one on at my AD. Has a lot of wrist presents. The complication is very interesting.

Looking at the poll results, it's surprising how many have gone for the third option.

Prefer the original as I feel it lost some daylight legibility with the revision.

Ym2 is one of the best Rolex by a mile there must be a bunch of old men on here who don't like a nice big bold eye catching piece , go wear your small flat Daytona

My 2017 YM2. The gold hands are less legible than blue but I much prefer them cosmetically.

The new version has grown on me. I actually prefer it. I just wish they took a leap and did the mercedes hands in blue.

I have the first version and although I haven't worn it for almost a year now, the blue hands were easy to read. For a thick watch it was very comfy.

Have original YM2 Gold 2008 w/ gold hands and I am totally happy with it. I don't love the blue hands since the factory blue color looks a little off. I do like the newer gold one but I would not go to change mines for it.

I do have to say it is a beautiful watch which is hard to make a good copy.
