It’s a great watch.. I love mine and still think it’s one of the best under the radar watches period. More people notice an Apple Watch than a Rolex but the younger generation fueled by songs like this: https://youtu.be/lwk5OUII9Vc
May start paying more attention. The teenage cashier at Wing Stop the other day mentioned he liked my Rolex which was a surprise.

While we're on the topic of the 114270 (which incidentally was my first Rolex)...can anyone point me to a decent distressed leather strap that I can fit to it, that won't be scraped by the side of the case?

I have been wearing my Explorer ref 114270 for about 3 weeks know, I am quite surprise that no one really comment or noticed my watch till now besides one friend who asked me if it's a real Rolex. Also he asked it with a tone that I thought maybe he surprised that Rolex looks like that. I wanted to ask you guys, what is your experience with people commenting on your watch or noticing your watch? Is it different with other models? Thanks.

That is also my experience. I can hardly remember anyone (not wearing a Rolex himself) commenting about my 114270 in the 15 years that I have been wearing it daily as my only watch.

I also have this problem with some straps, but other seem to work very well.

See the following one:

Unfortunately, I cannot tell you where this was bought, since it was a present from my brother.

Some Hirsch straps work while others are "chewed" by the case.

This is not a distressed one, but hope it helps:

For this I could give you the reference number.

Best regards,

Mr. Gonzalez

People dont notice watches that much and are mostly not aware of brands, movements etc. I wear Rolex because it is robust and highly reliable. Only watch people comment and some women when they see the brand.

To get comments, and attention, yellow gold Day-Date is very good tool for that. Because that is what people understand as Rolex.
