Dear kauebm,
I think that combo on the DD came on the model that's a quartz movement, if I'm not mistaken.

That was my impression too, but the dial says "superlative chronometer, officially certified", indicating the mechanical movement.

I was just reading on Bob's Watches that 2001 was the last year Rolex applied for SCOC on their Oysterquartz watches. So yes, they were certified.

Great looking pair!

I remember watching the old Sanford & Son show. One episode someone insisted to Fred that Diamonds are forever

"So are the payments" was his response.

Great looking watches!!

When we went to the local AD to look for a new DJ for my wife, she'd seen the "diamonds at VI" dials for the DJ31 and even though each tiny £100+ diamond is as near perfect as you could ask, she kept referring to them as "sweepings" as in diamond dust that might be swept up in a jewellers workshop...

The next time we visited, a few days later, both the owner and one of the directors were using this expression too.

Not sure how pleased Rolex would be!?

My DJ41 has no diamonds, but it does have some "purest green"...

NB. For those not knowing the history of purest green, please visit...
