Verification check 18238

I am looking to buy a yellow gold 36mm "President" for my wife. The seller seems reputable and has a decent amount of feedback in various places including here on TRF. Just wanted to make sure the watch advertised is on the up and up.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thank you for the feedback.

From the pictures, it looks like it's in very good condition. Seller states it's "mint", so hopefully I won't need to do any additional reconditioning before giving it to my wife.

Thanks! I am pretty excited as well. What do you feel is a good price for a set like this in "mint" condition?

Dealer has it listed for $16,900

I've seen a several pieces on chrono24 selling at $14k to $15k. But those pieces have some visible wear on them. Not sure if getting a good deal or not.

Also, I noticed the face portion of the lugs on this one seems to have a satin finish. Is that supposed to be like that? I've seen several other examples here and there that have a mirror finish. Not sure if that effect was added on or the other pieces had a bad polishing.

Sorry for all the questions, I've seen you around a lot on the "watch out" threads and you seem to be a very knowledgeable person.

Thanks again and Happy Thanksgiving

All 18238 have brushed lugs.
The one on the picture is a nice watch, very steep price. I own one and happily wear it.
18238 has the quick set which is a huge improvement over the 18038.

If you never felt one you should try it before you buy it and compare to a newer model.
Personally I’d go for a 6 digit day date. Totally different watch if you handle it. You pay quite some more but get a shiny watch, solid bracelet and much improved clasp.

Price is high no doubt. But it’s nice.

Thanks for the advise. Unfortunately I had already wired the funds before I read your response.

It's supposed to be in mint condition, so worst case if there is any stretch, I'll return it and go for a 6 digit DD.

Thanks again for the input, cheers.

Yes, I got it this morning. Better condition than I was expecting.

Haven't had it sized yet so it's a bit loose, but otherwise very happy with the purchase.

Nice piece. I was recently in the market for one similar and it's really all about condition, even if it's a few bucks more. That seemed to be the common theme among all research i did was condition. Yours meets that for sure. Congrats!

Truthfully, I am having a little difficulty sizing it for her at the moment. Even with all the removable links taken out, the bracelet is too big.

I guess I'm going to have to leave it as is until I can take it to a watch maker to have some of the permanent links removed. Who knows how long that will take...

Sounds like she needs a 31 or 26mm piece.
